SATA installation problems!

Alright, I'm installing a Maxtor DM9 120GB S-ATA on my new system. The problem is, the drive isn't recognized when the computer boots. It IS however recognized by the BIOS setup and the WinXP installation program. I can create a partition & do a format and begin the installation, BUT when the computer reboots the first time, the inst.prg. won't continue (just start over). Just as if there is no drive...

I also installed WinXp to an older HDD, the SATA drive were still connected, and I could use it w/o a problem... still no luck getting XP on it...

Remove the XP setup disc from the drive right before it restarts for the first time.

If you leave the disc in the installation will just start over

I've tried that, the computer won't boot... just says something like "insert system disk"

Are yous using a Windows XP SP1 disk? It sounds like a driver issue. If not, I suggest creating a SP1 slipstream disk so that there are SATA drivers once Windows loads.
