SATA jumper change == format?

I finally upgraded my motherboard so that it supports SATA2. My hard drive has been set on SATA1 (1.5GBIT). If I change the jumper on my hard drive to support SATA2 (3.0GBIT) will I need to format the hard drive?

I know it won't give me a speed increase since hard drives can't go that fast, but I'm just wondering.

SATA1 or 2 isn't magic, it's a standard. I'll give you an example, just because the speed limit is 75 doesn't mean you have to go 75 or, slower cars are not allowed to drive on said road. You will not have to reformat. Got it?
