SATA Optical Drives.

Im on the fence when it comes to an optical drive. Id like to get a Samsung, LG, or Sony drive. But Im worried about potential driver issues, im planning on running Vista 32bit. I know alot of people get their OS installed but cannot find drivers for their SATA optical drives.

Any brand recommendations? should I order OEM or retail?

I have not had any issues with SATA optical or hard drives in Vista (various brands).

The only problem is Vista and XP recognize them as SCSI drives, which could give you problems with some DRM's on games.

The only issues I've seen with mine are
1. Crysis won't read in the drive because of drm, but that seems physical not because of data.
2. Generic dos optical drivers for mscdex dont work, which is irritating when trying to do a bios flash.

My SATA Lite-On burners are working fine in both an nforce2 based system and a VIA PT880 based system.

It can't be true that people with SATA drives can't play Crysis. How do people usually get around this?
