You guys are really on the ball with this thing.

Mine's not even out of the box yet.

Thanks for the heads-up on the updates fellows!

Anyone have any issues with trying to get into the control panel again after transfering a lot of files or anything?

Everything was working fine until I started transferring tons of files to it's shared folder, now I can not access the control panel, torrent page, or anything. I've restarted it multiple times.

I can still access the shares just fine however. :S

EDIT: Alright, I got the control panel back by using the reset button in the back.

Updated to the firmware listed on the previous page as well and it is much faster.

Your talking about a SATA NAS, not the IDE version with the firmware update, right?

Yes, the NS-349S is based on the Freescale MPC8241 (Datasheet)

It's the 266Mhz, RoHS version, Rev 1.4

I have the IDE version. I haven't seen the board layout for the SATA version. Anyone find a link or have pics?

Same here. I was the one who posted this deal, and I"ve been too busy at work to even open mine yet.

Hell I'm thinking I might just sell it on fs/ft if I don't find time for it.

Larger USB Flash drives, some full of files, give strange results in the front and rear USB ports in this IDE box. Be nice to find newer firmware for the IDE version, but they may have put all of their efforts into updating the SATA devices. Tested with a working 80G drive inside.

16Mb FAT12 usb1.10, ok front, ok rear.
256Mb fat16 usb2, front ok, rear ok.
2G Crucial Gizmo #1 fat16 usb2, Front ok. Rear device not found and HD no longer found.
2G Crucial Gizmo #2 fat16 usb2, Front ok, Rear not found and HD not found.
1G Cruzer Micro fat16 usb2, Front not found & HD not showing up (tested 3 times). Rear ok and HD found (tested twice).
4G Kingston micro SD HC in USB adapter, Front not found but HD ok, Rear not found and HD not found. Rear retry HD found but USB still not recognized.
2G micro SD in adapter, Front not found but HD ok, Rear not found but HD ok.

Anyone give this a try with the X360? I've got it setup and it works streaming to my laptop, can't get streaming to my desktop working for some reason, but my X360 just says no PC's detected.

I can't seem to have it show up on the 360 either. It only finds my PC (even when it's not there).

Is there updated firmware for the IDE version? I assume the firmware for the SATA one won't work for the IDE?

Looks good for power usage.

Was using 13w while streaming media and uses even less when the drive is not in use (if you allow the drive to power down if no use for X minutes).

That's disappointing.

I guess I'll settle for the LaCie I posted earlier in the thread.

I don't have a 360 to try it on but streams fine to my PS3.

My god, the Windows Explorer is such a POS.

Nice error:
Windows can not access\\I-Drive\Private

Details: Access is denied.

Give me a damned password prompt if the access is denied instead of using the account credentials that do not work!

Anyone know how to force Explorer to use different credentials?

Does anyone know the deal with this iTunes Server?

I enabled it, selected the MP3's on my NAS also, did the rescan and set iTunes to under the Sharing tab to look for shared folders.

But in iTunes when I try and access my "shared" music which is called "music jukebox" I get an error stating...

"The Shared library "Music Jukebox" is not responding. Check that any firewall software running on either the shared computer or this computer has been set to allow communication on port 3689"

I have port 3689 wide open.

Has anyone else gotten this iTunes feature working?

Has anyone had trouble formatting a large drive in the SATA NAS? I put in a 1.5 TB Seagate, and I keep trying to format it through the NAS software. Each time, it seems to format (although very quickly), and then resets, and it still says "HD Unable to Use". I'm using the latest firmware (2.1)

The drive powers up fine, and I even put it in my computer and partitioned it, thinking that might be the problem, but still no dice.

Anyone successfully installed a drive bigger than 750gb?

I had the same problem with 1.5 TB Seagate. Then I stuck in a WD10EACS (Western Digital Green Power 1TB) and it formatted fine.

I've since updated the firmware to 2.1 and was going to try the 1.5 TB again. But based on your experience, I won't bother.
