From the dawn of SNL, it has always been hit and miss. Some sketches are absolutely hilarious, while others have you wondering how they ever got OK'd to be performed.

Any standout sketches from tonight's show? I have it on my DVR, but haven't watched it yet. (Too much college football and preseason NHL to watch. )

Andy Samberg had all summer to come up with a new Digital Short and that was it. Really?



I laughed at the very last 2 skits, but I was starved for entertainment by that point.

You could have told me that the show was canceled 5 years ago and I probably would have believed you. I stopped watching regularly about 20 years ago. While the show has distinctly funny skits from time-to-time it is definitely not the show it once was.

Hugely disappointed in the Digital Short. The cameo appearances in the opening were good but, that's to be expected in the Premiere and Finale. Those that say SNL is weak or "not as good as it use to be" have to realize before they competed against MAYBE a hundred comedy shows. Now a show like SNL(15~ writers) competes/gets compared to funnies against hundreds of millions of people with a camera and a youtube account. So things aren't quite what they use to be.

The episode was weaker than usual even for the medium they are on.

Few good sketches here and there. Funny cameos as well. Patterson was a really good sport. I hope they don't stop imitating Patterson though, that always cracks me up

Will Forte hit the big time with the MacGruber movie. He doesn't need SNL anymore! /sarcasm

Agreed Samberg's digital short was just an awful idea/execution. They can't all be winners but you have to wonder WTF they were thinking on that one.

Saw very little of the new cast, though that guy did a really good Will Smith impression.

Sorry to ressurect the SNL thread.. but I thought the new guy who did a Will Smith parody was great. He hit it spot on. i am impressed. I am also intoxicated. discuss.

I'd say about 1 out of a hundred sketches are amusing. None of them are hilarious.
Anybody with talent leaves as soon as they can. Most recent example is Tina Fey.
