Savage 2000 XP Driver

Anyone know where to get a good driver for a savage 2000 running under windows XP?

They never got it running in Win98, so don't hold your breath.

VIA - S3 Graphics haven't released any drivers for the Savage2000 for windows XP, and do not intend to either.

The best option is to use a driver tweaked using some windows 2000 components. These do not offer the best in stability on some systems but do have the advantage of giving you some OpenGL support.

Their should be something out there because the new emachines have integrated S3 Savage4 Pro built into them and they come standard with XP. I dunno if I am totally off base here or what...

Why would you be trying to use a Savage 2000?! Save yourself the effort and buy a real vga.

XP does come with drivers for the Savage2000, but by default there is pretty poor OpenGL support. The main problem was that the drivers for Windows 9x/ME were far more mature than the drivers for Windows 2000 were when support for the card was dropped. The XP driver is merely a follow on from the last Windows 2000 drivers and even then they lack some features.

There has been some new (non-tweaked) drivers released for the Savage2000 but these are not much better in terms of performance and only fix a few errors.

Really you should stick with Windows 98/ME or get a new card for XP.
