FWIW, Restaurant.com also works through e*ay, and has a feedback rating of 55,250--98.6% positive. So I guess it's good. But man, they need to get hooked up with more restaurants.

A former neighbor got a few GCs for her new neighborhood as a welcoming gift and from what she tells me, is a great deal. Obviously it's to attract new customers to places that are only getting the regulars but for her, that suited her just fine.

Fifty percent off (plus gratuities) for decent places, no obvious restrictions, and the restauranteurs pretty much knew where the GC came from so that saved the "I got it on the Internet" explanation. The only down side is you might end up at a place you don't particularly like, but the lesson learned is 50% off.

nice find! not a bad selection for SW Connecticut... and NYC isn't too far away, so a day trip into the city w/ half price lunch and dinner seems feasible

Interesting, I'll have to plan to buy some of these next time I'm on the road. Too bad they don't have any in my area (Southern Oregon). Probably not a wise thing to show during a first date though.

Nice idea, but like you guys said, not much to choose from. Found only one major chain in my area...otherwise, it's locals only. And some of the worst of the bunch. No wonder they need coupons

Yes, there was another that did. I can't remember the name right now. I still have some of their certificates. From what I understand, they went thru money too fast and decided to send out all of their certificates at once (instead of x per restaurant per month). Restaurants quickly stopped taking them saying "they're screwing us"

I bet this one doesn't last long

Please be a little cautious when buying these certificates. I have purchased several now, and some have worked well, but several especially recently have been difficult to redeem.

This past weekend I tried to use 3 different certificates, all 3 resteraunts basically told me the same thing as the previous poster mentioned. That restaurant.com was screwing them and selling more certificates than agreed too. Very fishy, another board stated this is the same company as the other GC company mentioned previously. I have called and received refunds for certificates that weren't accepted. But it is a little embarassing when arguing wih the manager. My suggestion is to do this.

Go to the restaurant
Order 25 worth of food ( or whatever the GC amount is for )
bring enough cash to cover tax and tip
leave the gift certificate, and cash at the table
exit quickly
