Save Picture as ... .jpe file?!?!?

When try to save a .jpg from IE, it saves it as a .jpe. Anyone know why?

Thanks for the suggestion, but that didn't fix it. I just wiped my HD and reinstalled Win2K (not because of this) and it still does the same thing.

jpe is a synonym for jpg. I believe originally the extension was .jpeg because that makes more sense but Windows had problems with extensions longer than 3 characters so it was shortened for them, some people went with jpg and some with jpe, either way you should have the same file.

Well the problem is the Thumbnail Viewer of Paint Shop Pro doesn't recognize .jpe.

Then either just rename it, or file a bug report with the vendor.
