Actually, I think they discussed it on a one-hour special about the science behind Stargate a year and a half ago or so. I could be mistaken, but I think that was were they talked about the cost of a series swelling over time due to salary increases for actors and everyone associated with making the show.

yep because Robert Picardo is pretty much an unknown actor... all those years appearing on a little known show called Star Trek: Voyager.. didnt do anything for his acting career..

He basically gets guest starring roles on series and not too often at that. When he does appear in a movie its a very small budget movie with no one you ever heard of.
Regular series work is a huge step up for him.
In fact, Voyager cast members are pretty much not working these days, despite being on the show for 7 years. Check out imdb. The only 'successful' Voyager cast member is Robert Duncan Macniel who is making a career as a director. He has done some of the "Chuck" episodes recently and has directed episodes of a lot of other series.
Although Tim Russ has been kind of active in limited supporting roles.

No, the Atlantis casts main characters were pretty much one shot guest stars before they got their break on Atlantis. And in 5 years since most have done nothing during the off seasons of the show. Funny, the one actress with some real recent gigs before Atlantis was Torri Higginson, who the sh*t canned.

Stargate Atlantis sucks. It had a lot of potential but it really disappointed me. The horrible acting doesn't help. Why doesn't Taela use contractions?

They should just let it go. Theres been a movie, a show, 2 dvd movies, a spinoff, and eventually a dvd movie for the spinoff - thats more than enough.

I think it would have had a shot if they brought on new/different writers and directors like on Battlestar. I mean most of the people involved have been writing for SG1 since the start.

In fact, the show was one of their most popular. They said they want to "end it on a high note" whatever that means.

The numbers are reflective of the actual watching patterns. IE they found out more people watch the show later from a DVR and skip the commercials. And with the success of the SG-1 movies they figure they can make more money doing the DVD thing. I can't say I'll miss it though. It's just not really Stargate. The only characters that are likeable are Sheppard and McKay. They killed of Carson which they realized was a major error and wrote him back in only to take him off again.
Also, the Wraith are a terrible enemy. I can not stand their EMo Goth Vampire look and actions.
The Stargate: Universe series is looking to be a giant turd. They've discovered that the 9th chevron dials other universes.

I haven't really watched BSG since the first eps of season 3, when they really just fell apart.

They were ok. I did find them to be too overly action-oriented, though.

Ronan is as wooden of an actor as can be.

The only reason he's on the show is b/c he looks exotic badass. Otherwise he's a waste of space on the show.
