I play the hell out of my 3DS because of all the decent RPGs on the platform. I don't care that they came out 8 years ago on the PS2, I never got to play them.
I'd buy a Wii U if they just released or rereleased a backlog of JRPGs. That would be different enough to add uniqueness to the device. I'll use a PS4 for everything else. I don't need pretty graphics for my RPGs; and I freaking hate the ridiculous spell animations on current consoles. Those stupid, long animations slow down my XP grinding, which is exactly why I buy JRPGs.
So, Nintendo should say "we will still release all our core, first party titles, and any 3rd party game is going to be a RPG and take advantage of the second screen for battle commands, maps and inventory management"
Then, I would buy it in a heartbeat.
