I present to you Bernie the Bearing Cat.

Bernie was first seen in the warehouse of my shop Thursday AM. A small black streak from the corner of the eye is all we saw of Bernie on That day. We heard pitiful meowing and cries throughout the rest of the day though.
Best we could figure is she stumbled into our warehouse as our freight was being unloaded that morning as we didn't hear her Weds and the sightings began by 8AM Thursday.
We took pity on the little creature (we could tell from the very quick glimpses it was just a wee kitten) and decided that if we could track it down, we'd keep it in the shop as a mouser if nothing else...
After listining to the pitiful little meows all day Thursday, I tracked her down to a corner of the warehouse and left out a can of soft food. Friday AM, the entire can of food was gone. She must have been famished. I then kept hearing the meows and tracked them until I was able to catch the little devil. She was totally wedged between some empty cardboard boxes and a concrete wall trying to make herself as small as possible. Even though it is no more than 8 weeks old at the most IMHO, she didn't want to be caught... hissing, scratching, you name it.. it was as wild as any cat I've seen.
However, after getting some kitten shampoo and giving it a bath (which, incredibly it didn't mind) where the water turned filthy after its time on the streets (likely since birth), it curled up in my arms against my chest and purred harder than my 13 year old suck of a cat at our house... it probably hadn't felt warmth and a full tummy since it's short time with its Mom, and lord only knows what brought that to a end.
So, our Bearing and Power Transmission shop has a new employee. It won't make much other than endless food, sunbeams and the care of 6 of what everyone would think are the biggest rednecks in the planet to pamper her... good thing we're a bunch of sucks and softies at heart. As long as she can put up with the odd trip to the vet for her shots (which will be coming up darn soon) everything should be OK.
I hope she enjoys her new life that she stumbled upon by pure chance.
