Its the same type schedule I work now. I really don't care about the weekends, having 4 days off in a row every week is really cool. Throw in a holiday every now and again and the time off adds up quick. I also work a part time job during my 4 days off. It works out great really.

I assume housing costs in that area must be a lot cheaper than the Seattle area from the pay scale, but that shift actually sounds gravy. I could use all that time off for my hobbies, buy my wife would kill me.

Man, I would jump at this as a second job if it was in the DC area. Right now I work four days a week 5:00AM-3:00PM.

I'm young, over-qualified, and able-bodied; I could pull off the 72 hour work week.

Oh well, now that I'm motivated, can anyone recommend good ideas for a weekend tech job?

To break it down for the crowd that doesn't like what I call a 4th shift... You could work 261 Days as a stadard 1-3 shifter or 157 days as a 4th shifter. Thats not including holidays.

If I was in the neighborhood, I would jump at the offer so very fast...! I'm probably qualified enough too!

Worst. Job. Ever.

Nothing wrong with it to me. I have worked worse.

Yeah no shat I worked 10.5 years 11PM to 7 AM 6 days/week in a steel mill. It is similar to being slow roasted

I would work maybe two of those shifts, but not all three. You would get absolutely no weekend.

4 days off > loss of 2 day weekend.

the shift allows me to take mini vacations almost every week, and with paid vacation, jsut over one weeks of paid vacation allows me to have 4 days off + paid 3 days off + 4 days off + paid 3 days off + 4 days off, basically giving me 18 straight days off.

job pays $25k-$45k per year depending on qualifications and workload you can take on. we may have 5 em's on a shift, but some EM's handle morework and get paid more.

not bad considering that you can get a job to fill in the 4 days that your not working just to make even more cash

yup. only problem is, you gotta find a job that pays as well to justify working on your off days. otherwise, you find yourself just wanting to pick up additional hours at the same job because eventually it puts you into overtime and you accrue vacation/sick time that much quicker..

im actually utilizing the time to A. study for additional certifications and B. take mini vacations every week... its nice being able to go out to a lake house and spend 4 days on a boat and not even have to ask for a day off or even tell your employer about it. sometimes i even go on a minivacation just to get away and study...

How do you like savvis as a company? I've got a couple friends at some of the larger st louis ISPs and they usually tell me horror stories about how much they disliked management there. No offense if you're management of course They've made me scared to send a resume hehe.

Aint no parties on monday nights though...
If you are worried about not making it to all the cool kiddie parties then you are probably better off not applying for any job like this even if the hours were more "party friendly".

ahhh... its a young company and they are definately still growing up. as a whole, the company seems driven to be fair to its employees and provide a good place to work. i like it so far.

little late but you really should space out your email address so that it doesn't get spidered.

They should have paid Kirstie Alley to play Saavik in STIII and VI.

With those crappy hours you will never find anyone qualified. Qualified people don't waste their weekends.

Not true at all. If it were in a different area I would have been on it likes jocks on the prom queen. I think it's the best schedule ever devised.
