Saw a cop violate the very laws he was on his way to enforce

This was motorcylce cop. I saw him blow through a redlight to make a right turn this morning. This wasn't even one of those slow roll through either. Then he goes through a 40mph zone at ~45-50, pulls into a store parking lot and hides behind a bush. It was clear he had no emergency. He just wanted to get to his hiding spot as quick as possible to avoid being noticed.

I do respect cops and what they do but things like this just sometimes get to me. Just another example of enforcing traffic laws for generating revenue.

Hid behind a bush eh. Maybe he and the other cops were playing hide and seek? That would explain him running the red light and speeding, had to find a spot to hide quick!

Get over it - it's not really that big a deal....

I don't think he said it was a big deal. I think he just said it annoyed him.

LOL! That's totally what I imagined: some biker cop courching behind some bushes, with just his eyes and the top of helmet peeking out from above.

This is a dumb thread. If you'd caught a cop stealing or killing someone or doing drugs, maybe, but going through a right on red and moderately speeding (because your eye can tell the difference between 40 and 45, right?)?

You're just pissed that he's on traffic duty and will be pulling someone over.

My issue with this is that it isn't safe (even with lights on) and because of that it should only be used when needed not just to get into hiding faster. I had a friend in high school who was hit by a cop doing an illegal u-turn and he was hurt pretty badly. In the end the cop got in no trouble for it even though he admited he didn't have a real reason for doing it.

I am aware that this situation is not typical and that 99.999% of the time they don't hurt anyone, but knowing someone who was that .001 changes your mind a little on that.

However, as he was driving a motorcycle and wasn't likely to hurt anyone but himself, I don't have as much of an issue with it.

Little Red Riding Hood is on her way to her grandmother's. She's walking down the road and sees the Big Bad Wolf crouched behind a tree.

"Wolf! Wolf! I see you!"

Startled, the Wolf runs away.

She continues walking and a little later sees the Wolf hiding behind a log.

"Wolf! Wolf! I see you!"

The Wolf, looking disgruntled, once again trudges away.

She contiues walking and yet once again, spies the Wolf crouched down behind a bush.

"Wolf! Wolf! I see you!"

The Wolf finally snarls, "Jesus Christ lady, will you leave me the fuck alone, I'm trying to take a shit!"

What is your definition of breaking the law?

Is a ticketable offense breaking the law?

I wouldn't go THAT far. Anyway, kudos to the OP either way. He used to post misogynistic threads. IMO, cop hating threads are a minor step in the right direction.

Mmmmm. If he lets things of this magnitude annoy him, then his life will be far more difficult then it would otherwise be. In a world where rape, murder, extortion, hunger, famine, racism, etc... all run rampant, who cares about this shit.

When those who enforce the rules break them is why I care. They're human, but because of their position, I hold them to a higher standard. If nobody cares, nothing changes.

OP: <Gomer Pyle voice> CITIZAAANS AAARREST!!!! CITIZAAANS AAARREST!!!! </Gomer Pyle voice>

Seriously OP, 80% of the time cops respond to calls with no lights/no sound. You have no idea what was going on. Get over it and worry about the bigger shit in life.

While I agree with this sentiment, I believe you solve problems by attacking the big ones first.

Report him. If he's not an a call he's a corrupt or potential corrupt officer who's only an officer so he can easily violate the law.

Can you point out the laws that show that police are required to obey all civilian traffic laws?
