My parents have a bird feeder that sticks to the patio door and the squirrels learned to climb the wood door and jump on top of it.

This was from 2 summers ago with my brothers dog staring at it and barking at it at times but the little bastard learned long ago it was safe as they have a cat who used to jump up and down to try to get the squirrel from the other side.

It used to scare them off but after a few days they didn't budge and the cat got tired of jumping by then. :biggrin:

Sadly either the squirrels that knew how to do this are no longer around or are just too lazy to do this anymore as the ones around now just eat from the deck and don't go up there but they do still tease the cat by sitting right on the other side of the glass eating seed.

Heh. There's a trick to run squirrels off from bird feeders. You can mix peanut butter and bird seed with ground cayenne pepper to make a treat for the birds. Birds can't taste the spice from pepper, but the squirrels can

I think you mean ground squirrels. Squirrels that chill in the trees eat acorns and hang out.

Hahaha that is freaking awesome, and it looks like an albino as well! Those are super rare. Probably just as rare as a white moose.

This is why squirrels are so awesome. They do the craziest stuff. I hope the one I saw sticks around. Going to have to keep putting out peanuts.

Around here, squirrels don't really have a negative impact on your lawn. Nuts don't get buried deep at all and I can never tell where squirrels have been digging.

Also, they nest exclusively in trees around here. I think you have squirrels confused with some other critter.

PLENTY of ground squirrels in San Diego, but it seems that they usually make their tunnels under bushes so that predators can't hold siege (they can come out then travel under the bushes). That said, I don't think they damage the bushes much (they need them!). It probably help aerate the soil.

Yeah never seen them have any negative impact. There's this place I used to camp at a lot and the chipmunks and squirrels were more tame and we'd actually see them every day. Never heard of anyone's camper being broken into by them. We did keep them well fed though. Chipmunks especially are the huge pigs lol. :awe:

The squirrels also like to bite if you try to play games with them. The chipmunks did not seem to mind as much they'd go in our pockets and stuff.

They're always fun to watch that's for sure.
