We are talking about the 2016 Ford Shelby GT350.
Really - You young ones don't know what you have been missing.

Shove this up your modern Shelby 350 GT with a 625+ Hp gazer 7000+ rpm MKIV 460 Ci BBC SR 70z 28.

I've driven a 1970 Firebird. It's an archaic car by modern standards.

By the way, I'm nearly 50 years old if it matters at all to you.

I do agree the markup on these cars is a bit ridiculous. However, I think what people aren't seeing here is the GT350R will match/beat a (997) 911 GT3 RS. That to me is pretty impressive considering the GT3 RS starts at $175k, and the GT350R "starts" at less than $63k. This is your classic American muscle/sports car vs. the European competition. Another example is the Z06 Corvette, which is extremely capable on the track, and is a bargain for the performance.

Sure you can get a nice C63S, E63, CLS63, or M3/4, M5/6, but they are luxobarges, and not track oriented at all. They're much better suited for daily driving, which is 99% of what you see. I had a CLS 63, and while it was fun at Watkins Glen with a cooled butt and A/C, it wouldn't hold a chance to the GT350R. Two different cars built for different purposes.

The thing is, these are street cars. And if you're driving them on the street it really doesn't matter how capable they are on the track.

BTW-There is a dealer near me with 3 of these in stock and they're listing them at MSRP on their website. I've never done business with this particular dealership but I have stepped foot in this dealership and they have good reviews online.

Are they really that special that you'd only garage them and covet them? Seriously? There will probably be another model in a year or two that will be even better.

Think of it as a "cheap"/fun track toy. For me, the track aspect matters.

That's awesome. Unfortunately none of the dealers near me have any. It'd have to be a special order, these are limited production cars.

I didn't say I'd garage it. I'd daily it. I'm DD'ing my Mustang GT now in upstate NY winter. I buy cars to drive them, not to look pretty in a showroom. Head over to the Mustang forums and there are folks looking for winter tires on the GT350. Sure there will always be better cars. But in this day, it is a performance bargain. I'm super impressed it is capable of hanging with cars that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars and it's a fraction of the cost. It's a good time to be a car enthusiast.

If I spent $100k on a Mustang it better be something special that I wouldn't want to put a ton of miles on. This car is not that special.

Alright we'll agree to disagree... And like I said, the price is crazy. I wouldn't pay that much over MSRP for any car. No car is "that special" to me.

$111k gets you into some very elite and expensive German machinery though. We're talking AMG and M badging here... not to mention Porsche.

If someone wanted one of those cars, they'd already have and $111k isn't elite, especially by Californian standards.

Don't get me wrong, I love old cars but they are not like the new ones.

A 64 Volvo or a 2002 BMW will corner along with a 56 Healy or Triumph 2+2 with that new Shelby Corbra badged Ford although not as fast on the the top end but can't out out accelerate a Modified 70Z Camaro.

My new Malibu could easily take it.

Your Dreaming - LOL

You steer and point these rides by spinning out the posi back wheels under POWER - Doesn't mean you can't handle these cars that launch to 60 in under 4 Seconds in corners or hit 170+ mph on any straight. If you got the guts and the ability to handle her and that I suppose goes for the latest Ford Mustang. Which I like very much compared to the latest Camaro or Challenger.

That Malibou has to be at least a 4WD and hitting 500 Hp to even approach me.

Not saying I don't like Malibou's as Cops use them but I would sooner drive a Volvo P1800 ES:

.

It's a special edition Malibu. I can't go into too many details about it. People that buy the car are contractually sworn to secrecy.

This ride is 6" lower off the Roof and Hood and wider then any Modern Detroit Car and easily wrenches to over 600HP - Approx 3200 of them were made.

True that.

I still wouldn't pay $111k for a Mustang. Apparently, I would pay $111k for a Beetle though.

I'd bet on that 7000 rpm 625 Hp 70Z BBC SR with a Muncie and a 12 Bolt Posi. You gotta be a driver because she's a brute to handle.

There was a Viper in My rear View.

What ever happened to the Op's 2016 Ford 350 Shelby GT ;o)

I love the old Jag XKE and Dodge 340 Mag Challenger for power and handling - But sadly they were RUST BUCKETS and probably 2 of the most expensive classic rides today.

My favorite engine is the 68 Chevy SBC LT1 327 with the forged Large journal crank. Capable of 8000 rpm and 425Hp on pump gas.

I'd bet on my car. It's actually illegal to register one in Canada on account of them being too fast for Canadians to handle.

625hp isn't much going up against that Malibu. Plus is that much on leaded gas?
