I don't see how your SS could win. It's got a LS3 with 415HP/415TQ. Hell a stock 2016 Mustang GT can beat that unless yours is really "Special" which I highly doubt it.
I'd bet on that 7000 rpm 625 Hp 70Z BBC SR with a Muncie and a 12 Bolt Posi. You gotta be a driver because she's a brute to handle.
There was a Viper in My rear View.
What ever happened to the Op's 2016 Ford 350 Shelby GT ;o)
I love the old Jag XKE and Dodge 340 Mag Challenger for power and handling - But sadly they were RUST BUCKETS and probably 2 of the most expensive classic rides today.
My favorite engine is the 68 Chevy SBC LT1 327 with the forged Large journal crank. Capable of 8000 rpm and 425Hp on pump gas.
I'm not sure I would be able to tell the difference either. It's a Mustang with stripes... can't swing a dead cat without hitting one of those.

Fair enough but give Ford a bit of credit for keeping a car first released in '64-'65 still viable and now very fun and affordable to own. The same could have been said about the VW bug back when it first came out, Detroit scoffed, "no one will buy these tiny things", they could not have been more wrong.
You are twisting words and out to lunch and every one knows there no way in Hell that a modern Malibu will out run a Modified 70Z perhaps the modern Shelby can in corners but not in acceleration.Wow, it has 1200 ft/lbs of torque? That's impressive.

Lets see you PIC's of the cars you have driven and engines you have built and then I will consider you a competent adversary.
Not this post is it!!!!!
God you Puppies drive me crazy.
Twisted a wrench? God, you're worse than the VTEC YO! ricers.Maybe under 60mph you can steer a Malibu with the rear wheels but they handle like a 68 Volvo upto 120 mph - Corner Great but for pointing and using the throttle steering with the rear wheels is different at speeds over 120Mph and that's where the driver comes in and you need a few Hale Mary's and I'm not Catholic.
I beginning to doubt if any of you you Puppies have ever twisted a Wrench or have driven to your limit.
Finally a Member Car Enthusiasts is getting my point ;o)Twisted a wrench? God, you're worse than the VTEC YO! ricers.
4 Sec's to 60 Mph and a 10 Secs Quarter miler to 123 Mph - Top end is around 170 Mph and there is no way a modern ride can compare let alone a Malibu save for a Corvette or Viper.
Zero to 60 mph: 3.5 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 7.9 sec
Zero to 130 mph: 12.8 sec
Zero to 150 mph: 17.6 sec
Zero to 160 mph: 20.9 sec
Rolling start, 5-60 mph: 4.0 sec
Top gear, 30-50 mph: 11.1 sec
Top gear, 50-70 mph: 9.6 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 11.8 sec @ 125 mph
Top speed (mfrs est): 202 mph
Braking, 70-0 mph: 155 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 1.00 g
Tell you what, we'll take that up on a mountain road of my choice, against my shitty 10 years old BMW.I'd bet on that 7000 rpm 625 Hp 70Z BBC SR with a Muncie and a 12 Bolt Posi. You gotta be a driver because she's a brute to handle.

Sad part is that you can't Wrench these Modern Cars and they are practicably driver less.
DaTT: You're insane believing the latest 350GT or Malibu is a Mc Learn with the spec's you have posted.Quote:

Even so at a standing ¼-mile: 11.8 sec @ 125 mph a 7000 rpm MKIV in a a 70 Camaro Body can do it in the 10's.
I preferred to keep my 70Z in the mid 11's what ever the top speed in regards to straight line performance Vs Road Racing.
Really less then a second in the 1/4 is not worth arguing who is the better driver.
The 70Z with BBC was front end heavy compared to a 340 Challenger (Better handing on the top end and could accelerate just as fast). Give me an old 140 Volvo with a SBC 327 and Jag XKE suspension and go FYS.
Of course you gotta have been a Wrencher back then when we could buy 120 Octane Sunoco AV Gas at the pumps. How could that be because I was brought up in Northern Ontario and Bush Pilots supplying Mine sights were in demand.
To the OP by all means buy that 350GT but for the money except her to be blown away by a 69 or 70 wrencher with a Camaro, Cuda or Challenger or a Boss and to say the least an AMC Javelin and you gotta watch out for them old Volvo's and BMW's and you don't want a Toyota Crown eating up your ass.
