Went down to the Sawgrass Mills Mall today...for those that don't know it's a huge mall in S. Florida, I think about a mile long. It has 2 food courts and over 350 stores. It's the largest of any mall in florida and most of the country.

Anyway the kids there are a freaking nuisance. There are many foreign visitors that really don't understand the customs here and were getting harrassed left and right by kids about 10-14ish. Definitely not old enough to drive, yet out even at 1:45am when our movie left out.

Prior to the movie my wife and I stopped by the arcade at the theatre to kill 45 mins before our show. There were 4 young girls there taking pictures of each other. They were in front of the change machines.

I go up to get change thinking they'd move...nothing. Said excuse me...nothing. Said hey girls, can I get by two secs....they look at me like I have two heads but move.

Get my change and start walking away...hear 'fk you boy'...which I didn't really think was directed at me...then 'better keep walking old man' and as I turn they were throwing some kind of gang sign.

I asked 'what the F is your problems, you some kind of wanna be thugs?' Was told I couldn't talk to them that way 'cause we're childrens' Told them 'you childrens better go find your mammas then or one of your daddys'

They told me they were getting the police. I go play my game.

Sure enough 4 idiot girls bring the cops back and then started going off on 'yeah that's the fing guy' and a ton of other crap. They asked me what happened, I told them exactly what I said. They asked if I was going to a movie or leaving one. I said I am going to this show and handed them my tickets. They asked the girls if they had tickets. Girls told the cop it was none of their business. They got thrown out.

During the show, no less than 20 people came in loudly in groups of 4-5 walked up the one aisle, across the row and then down the other aisle then left.

It was a freaking circus.

just a rant, probaby 0/10 but it was interesting to have 4 girls try to pick a fight with me over getting change out of a machine.

These kids just need to be put in their place with a good old-fashioned beating. When
I was that age you just didn't talk to adults that way, why? because of fear that's why.
If I talked that kind of crap and got my ass beat by an adult my dad would NOT back
me up, plain and simple. You said what?, you had it coming so deal with it..

Beating isn't even nessicary. Even the most basic of parenting prevents this shit.

The type of attitude he is describing knows no race, or location. It's the way kids are being "brought up", or NOT brought up these days...taught how to be by friends and main stream media and communications..sad

It doesn't matter... ghetto or affluent.... kids act the same at the malls everywhere.

Parents don't teach the kids to respect others, and then drop them off, and leave them unsupervised.

that certainly makes a good case for a 10pm curfew for kids under 16. Screw the businesses that say they'll lose money. I don't see them ponying up to pay for cops to police the area.

Funny, I didn't talk to adults that way because of respect...

Yes, they frequently put the largest malls in the ghetto because they find that spending is directly proportional to poverty levels.

Well we were all smart-assed teens at one point, at least I was but use the
f-word at an adult?? no, a beating was in store for that so you didn't do it.

Sawgrass Mills has gone WAY downhill over the past few years, heck, much of South Florida has...

I used to work at Rainforest Cafe there... I barely even go back there anymore, I just use Brandsmart to pricematch at Besbuy/CC across the street.

yup. I just moved out of the S. Fla area. Whole place has taken a dive into the crapper over the last 4 years or so.

It's not the freaking ghetto...look up coral springs, parkland, weston all communities around that area.

Trust me our shopping in S. Florida makes most other places look like shopping at Wal*Mart.

The kids causing the problems were predominently black, there were also spanish and white kids causing problems.

I think what happens is many of the people that swear they never have seen this kind of stuff at a mall are blocking out the tramatic experience of a kid taking their PSP and Game Boys.

Ah, thankfully the movie theater I worked at in Toledo, which was at the largest mall in the area (and main mall of Toledo), had police officers that booted kids under 18 after a certain time. They weren't even able to enter the theater itself after a certain time. haha take that kiddies.

rural living FTW!!

The mall is far from an urban city. It's in a rural-like/suburban area. South florida is a piece of shit place to live. The weather is incredible humid here and the beaches and girls can't make up for the trashy idiotic people that migrate here.

All my friends left S. florida. I'm leaving this God forsaken state once I graduate. The high standard of living in other states is probably well worth it from my friends experience.

CityPlace up by where I live also has a curfew...Palm Beach County is a little more strict in law enforcement than south.

The kids in Cityplace would block the stairs and ignore patrons trying to get by. They's also fill up the elevators and just ride up and down. Sort of stupid, but once business started suffering shop owners requested action.

Thing is many I know are still avoiding it because there is plenty of places to eat and see movies here and any of items can pretty much be bought elsewhere as well.

I am pretty laid back around kids...I don't expect them to be adults...loudness and laughter is part of growing up and doesn't hurt anyone.

The kids today though are threatening and proving dangerous when someone does speak up, we have had a lot of news on a group of teens attacking older people for just asking to get by or to be left alone.

S. Florida is a great place to live near the coastline. Weather is much milder than the more humid inland. S. Florida is home to the most expensive places to live in the country. Jupiter Island. Palm Beach is nothing to sneeze at.

However, if one doesn't use the beaches and boating/year around outdoor lifestyle the area offers then it's really an expensive place to live.

Ya, it does suck. During the summer, I went to a Mandarin for someone's birthday and got seated by some punk 12 year old kids. All night, they were talking loudly, harrassing the waiter and making stupid comments loudly.

I actually lived half a mile from there for a few years and know exactly what you're talking about.

If you want a quiet movie experience, I'd suggest doing down to Sunrise Theaters by the Broward mall or the Regal in Weston.

I moved to North of Atlanta about 1.5 years ago now and don't miss crap like that at all.

The worst theater I ever went to down there was the Muvico in Pompano, holy hell talk about ghetto circus, people were talking to each other across the theater while the movies playing. People were walking around talking on their cell phones that all light up while the movie was going on also.

If it wasn't for those two theaters I mentioned above, I'd never have gone to the movies anymore.

Same here in NC. IIRC, kids under 16 aren't allowed into movies after 9 without a parent.

The Crossgates Mall at Albany, NY apparently has a rule forbidding kids under the age of 18 to be at the mall after 4pm without adult supervision.

they sure do, and it is amazing. I know Carasel mall in Syracuse has the same stuff posted, no clue if it's enforced though... I've seen plenty of teens get booted out by mall security in crossgates though
