One of my good friends lost her sister after a really long ugly battle with cancer. My friend was actually mad that her sister got to see Jesus before her.

Some of us believe that the good stuff happens after we get off this rock.

I knew this woman who was a real bitch....just to be a bitch.......hated her guts.......the person that relayed to me she died about shit themselves when my response was "Good, I hope she rots in hell."

so there is another option to the standard "I'm sorry" line.

aww, don't be so bitter. i find it difficult to find the words to console people. i feel like i have to say something, but then i second guess what i've said.

when my father died i was just glad to have anyone think enough of me to feel they had to say something to me about it. i'm sure it wasn't easy for some of them either.

and "in a better place", when people say that, they may also mean that the "better place" is the fact that the deceased is not suffering anymore.
