My friend's previous motherboard died and he ended up upgrading to an Asus a7n8x-e deluxe with a mobile barton cpu that he overclocked to 2.4ghz with 100% stability. The only problem hes having, is that his Audigy soundcard "chirps" while playing mp3s or gaming, etc. At first, it was caused by anything, even typing. Now it has subsided to just happening randomly while the system is under a significant load. Music will be playing and there will be a hiccup of all high frequencies for a split second. He tried a different PCI slot which helped reduce the problem significantly, he tried testing to see if maybe it's an IRQ issue, which it isnt because he tested the built in NIC which shares the IRQ with the Audigy by transferring a lot of stuff while playing music and it didnt cause anything. He even tried manually setting IRQs through windows to no avail. He does have all the latest drivers as well as his motherboard's latest bios. His sound card was working flawlessly in his previous setup but now he has this problem which he says is going to make him get a different motherboard. So far he is very unhappy with the Asus board. Does anyone have any idea as to what could be causing these "chirps?" I am trying to help him resolve this issue and save him the trouble of returning the board and getting a different one.
