Just a quick question. I have a HT P4 and I seem to remember to get the most speed I should run two clients. I was just curious how to install two so they do not conflict with each other.

Install it as a service with: sobsvc -i
and set 2 processes like so: sobsvc -p:<2>

I just create .bat files in the SB folder with the previous commands and run them or you could create a shortcut for each and add the command there.

Can you set up the client to run as a service if a test is already in progress? Or will you lose the completed work?

I think 2.5.0 is bundled with the newest version, yeah. And I'm not sure about that one, Spacehead.

I believe you can set it up as a service while it's in the middle of a test, it will just continue from where it was

Just remember to un-tick the "Start on Windows boot" option in the settings before installing the service

OK,. i'm confused about this. I've tried a few things but getting nowhere.
I've read the "ReadMeNT.txt" & have the "sobsvc.exe" in my SB folder.

Could some one explain this to me step by step. Pretent you're talking to an idiot.

Currently i'm running both F@H & SOB on my HT P4's. What i want to do is be able to run a 2nd instance of SOB(turn F@H off) when F@H is out of/going to be out of work on my comps.

Start -> Run -> cmd

Navigate (cd) to the SB directory

Type the following at the command line:

sobsvc -i
sobsvc -o

I also use the following settings:
sobsvc -x
sobsvc -r:200

OK, i got it installed as a service, but when i try to run sobsvc -o to get the 2nd instance all i get is:
C:\Program Files\SB>sobsvc -o
Optimized: Affinity = Custom, 1 Clients
Client 0: Affinity = 0x2

Then i tried amdxborg's suggestion of "and set 2 processes like so: sobsvc -p:<2>" & i get this:
C:\Program Files\SB>sobsvc -p:<2>
The syntax of the command is incorrect.

Any help???

In the sb readme file it says the following:

sobsvc -p:<num>
Sets the number of clients to run

So that is the correct command to use. I've done this on a few machines and know for a fact that it works. Like I said, the way I do it is create .bat files in my sb folder and just add the command "sobsvc -p:<2>" in it and run it. (It's easy when having to install on multiple pcs).

Not really sure what more to tell you..

Try without the <> around the 2, ie:

sobsvc -p:2

OK, that worked. Thanks Confused

So now, if i want to only run 1 instance of SOB i can just close one out? There are 2 icons in the system tray. And if i want to start the 2nd instance i can just restart the service?

If you didn't use the options to monitor/restart the client if it gets closed.

If you use the -x command, then it will be run at the very very lowest priority, and it will probably not interfere with anything else at all!

Well what i've been doing is running both F@H & SOB ( 1 instance each). But F@H sometime will finish in the middle of the night or during the day when i'm not home & go idle till i can connect to get new work again.
I figured what i could do when that's going to happen is just stop F@H & start a 2nd instance of SOB to till i can run F@H when it'll finish while i'm at home.

I'd doubt running 2 instances of SOB & 1 instance of F@H at the same time would be ideal?

Depends on the priority of F@H. If you set SB to run at absolute lowest priority, and can set F@H to run slightly higher, then that will do exactly what you want

Either way - it won't take too long to try and see what happens

Don't know if it was just a fluke or not but things didn't seem to work out too well.
Set SOB with the -x flag but had to set F@H to Low priority(up from Idle). Then for some reason F@H stopped after about 20 minutes or so.

Set everything back the way it was. I'll just manually stop F@H & start 2 instances of SOB as needed.
