So the general consensus is not to go much higher than 1.4v for an o/c? I'm stable (2600k) @ 4.6GHz/1.38v. Should I try for more?

Have my 2600K @ 4,390MHz at stock voltage (1.21v under load). Gigabyte P67 motherboard. Only thing I did was set the multiplier and manually set 1.225 in the bios for the chip. These things are great.

50 passes of LinX using 6.5GB ram.

7-2600k @4.8Ghz | ASUS MAXIMUS IV EXTREME | 4x2gb Corsair Vengeance 1867mhz CL8 10-9-24 1T 1.600V running it 24/7.
Under 1.4v ->pll override off

So, what's up with SB Overclocking these days ?

I's like 4.5 is a given, and not really an overclock..

I decided to nudge mine on up to 5.0
Using +.135 offset.. CPUZ shows 1.46 - 1.47 vcore ...

Folding@Home 24/7 ..

I am currently running small FFTs in Prime95 maxing at 78 degrees.

Intel i5 2500k

4.9ghz @ 1.39volts

Is this too hot? Not sure if I should go lower voltage or lower voltage and clock.

78 Is not bad but it depends on other factors ..
What type of cooling? What are is your ambient temp?

I'm playing with a 2700K at 5g & 1.44v with Coolermaster 212+ and my max is showing 78 .. Ambient about 23.

Ambient temps are cool, air-conditioned in summer and a bit chilly in winter.
I have 3 fans in my Coolmaster and a CPU cooler, and higher-end thermal paste.

I actually just bumped it up to 5.0 and am still at 1.39 volts. One core is maxing up to 78.

Is 1.44v necessary for you? I'm curious why my PC hasn't crashed at 5g with only 1.39v. Is this a risky thing to do or as long the as PC is running the volts are fine?

I was/am still tweaking this one.. just picked it up a few days ago .. I just threw that out there to show I was getting similar temps with higher voltages.

The 2500K's of late do seem to be clocking higher with lower volts..

I think we have seen some 5g in the 1.35 range.. Not for the 26-2700k though..

Oh ok thanks. I noticed mine is able to go higher than my friends and his was made a couple months earlier.

5g in the 1.35v range is incredible...

I think I have a problem though, CPU-Z is not showing a "Rated FSB" value. While running prime95 my core speed goes up to 4900 however. I was thinking maybe its my BCLK/PEG rating. Its at 100 now and manual.

*edit* 1.36 @ 4.9 now. I hit a wall going for 5g so I just lowered voltage accordingly. I guess its not a big deal that rated FSB doesn't show up.

When I first got my 2600K (about a year ago) I was trying to stay under 1.35V because people were saying that more than that could be too risky. From what I´m gathering now though, a lot of people seem to be running at more than 1.4V without any negative effects. So what is considered to be "safe" now that SB has been out in the wild for what seems like forever...

Finally got my machine up and running after a lot of problems with a bad motherboard.

I've only done some basic OC for now, sitting at 4.4 GHz at 1.25 Vcore. The cores seem to max out at 55-60C running IntelBurnTest using a CM 212+ cooler.

My goal was around 4.3-4.4 GHz, but seeing how easy this has been going I might try for 4.6 or 4.7 GHz. A stable 4.4 GHz at 1.25 Vcore seems to imply I got a very good chip, or at least that's the impression this thread has given me.

Talk to me when your chip does 5ghz @ 1.32......................
