RMA and get some real honest to god asus?
No way, I have had nothing but problems with ASUS recently. Burned out motherboards, a burned out E5520 CPU, etc...

MSI, gigabyte, etc... you know asus = ASrock right?
long thread, id like to knpw if there is any noticeable performance decrease if any when running single channel, im considering to get one 4gb stick and get anpther in the future for my 2500k+p8p67
My IV's shipped bios was terrible. Upgrading to the newest beta cured it.
got a 2600k chip last night and was running it on a stock cooler. Picked up a cheapo cooler till i get the noctua d14 to do some overclocking. Intel cooler was junk and i could only run at 4.1 or 4.2ghz stock and would get like 75 degree temps. The new cooler gave me like 15-20 degree drop. I can clock to 4.8 on 1.366v and stable no issues and temps are 72 degree under load. Right now i am experimenting and running at 45x and 100 blck and 1.272v stable no issues. I am not going to go over 1.4v for now and do not want to attempt 5.0ghz till i get a high end air cooler. Not going to be messing around with watercooling since air cooling works just fine. I am happy at 4.5 and nice to see it can hit 4.8ghz and stay under 1.4. Using ddr3 ram 1600mhz @ 1.65v but running it at 1.60v. Any questions let me know and i can answer them. I have not ran a vantage with the new cooler which is a Thermaltake Contac 29 (Yes i know junk but better than stock) but here is some benches from last night.

What's a safe max temp? I'm getting mid 70s under my current overclock. That's about the same as my Q6600 but perhaps the 2500k is more fragile.
BTW, I have a weird thing where Windows 7 thinks I'm at 5.8Ghz....I'm only at 4.3 so not sure what that's about.
Whoa whoa, back the train up there... direct contact heatsinks require a different TIM application? Where can I find the proper instructions? I didn't know they were different...
This may explain why my e8400 gets up into the upper 60's/low 70's with my CM Hyper TX2 as it's a direct heat pipe and I did not change the way I apply the TIM. My A70 thats waiting for the 2500k to arrive tomorrow is also a direct contact so I'm glad I saw this.
Maybe that why I am having so many problems ?
OK, so back to 4.4, thats the best she can do, and needs 1.35 vcore. Immediate reboot at 1.325 and full load OCCT, bang. 21.35, its OK (so far)
And I got this setup to not spend a fortune. If I got another AX850 PSU, and the board you got thats another $550, which is all I spent total on this.
2 x 4400 would get me more points than 1 x 5 ghz !
I am not sure if you have done this: enable internal pll overvoltage in EFI.
