Coffejunkee: Thank you for that information. I was just looking into what that setting was doing. You saved me some research time

Last night I installed the internal PLL overvoltage BIOS for my P67A-UD5. That seemed to make a difference, I was able to pass 5 rounds of IntelBurnTest @ 4.4 GHz on max settings (16 GB of RAM). I meant to do more but forgot to set it to 500 before I started it. I started 500 passes this morning and if it's still running when I get home tonight I'll push higher. VCORE wasn't getting me stable at 4.2/4.4 so this is a good sign. I'll see how far I can get at 1.35V with the new BIOS options.

I've been trying to install my CM Hyper 212 cooler on my CPU for about an hour now, and I'd officially like to kill whoever built this piece of shit.

Damn thing doesn't match it's own support brace, so I can't install it

At this point I'm seriously considering just throwing it out and going with the stock cooler.

Did you notice that you need to move the pins to the middle holes? It took me a few tries to get it right as well, but it definitely will work once you have it setup right. I had the cross brace on and off a few times before I got it.

Yeah I did that, but it looks like one of the screws is a bit crooked, so it doesn't fit right. The other 3 work as they should, but that 4th one is a pain.

Hmmm - that's what I bought for my upcoming build. Hopefully mine works. Its a very popular model and I haven't seen many (any) other complaints like yours so maybe its just bad luck.

Either that, or I accidentally bent the thing myself. Doesn't matter anymore though, since I managed to straighten it now with a pair of pliers, and I'm back in business

Dropped my OC to 4.4 ghz @1.25v. Stable, temps stay nice and cool. I can't tell the difference between 4.4 and 4.8.

I haven't started overclocking yet, since I want to check stock system performance first, but I gotta say, I find it very promising that my temperature at full load hasn't gone above 46C on any of the cores.

And SuperPi 1M in 10.34s at stock, not too shabby either.

Really liking my i5-2500k so far.

Stable at 1.25?? I haven't played around with the voltages much. I just put 1.32 and 44 ratio. Is 1.32 too high for 4.4?

What temps are you getting at full load?

I cranked it up to 4.8 and it locks up from time to time gaming. Kind of annoying so I went down to 4.4. I've never seen the temp go higher than 41c. This HSF rocks!

Wow. 41 is low. I get that idle (well late 30's)

I've just been lowering the voltages tick by tick. I don't think 1.32 is too high; my temps are only -2c since dropping it to 1.25.

Full load is between 53 and 58c. I assume everyone else has that random, single core that runs hot?

Yeah one of my cores seems a few degrees hotter than the others.

What cooler do you have?

I really wish Intel would just tell us what the max safe temp is. I know TjMax is 100 but I don't think anyone wants to be running anywhere near that. I know some people are pushing 90 but that seems crazy to me.

Hmm so i got my i5 2500k, extreme 4 set up. My initial run of 4.6ghz, .05 offset seems pretty successful. It running through prime now with load temps at ~60C.

Edit: During my prime run i noticed 2 of my cores dropped to 4.5ghz. I think I read something like this in a review. Does this mean I have to increase the max supplied current?

I tried using their Gigabyte suggestions, but found it is no more stable, and just runs about 5-10 degrees hotter overall. I wouldn't recommend these suggestions.

So far, I'm 100% stable with i5-2500k @ 4.2Ghz with 1.325v set in BIOS (in Win7, it's telling me voltage is 1.35 though), on stock cooler

4.4Ghz gives me a BSOD either right after OS loads, or I fire up something that fully uses CPU.

Hopefully it'll do better once my Coolermaster 212 plus gets here.

umm that's troubling, I haven't seen anyone having so much trouble making 4,4 with their SB. but like you said could just be a cooling problem. post your result when you put in your 212+.

I have it set to 1.8831 (or something like that) was told don't go over 1.9

This is different thing we are talking about. Leave this auto (should be 1.831v). There is a similar name option called"internal pll overvoltage" which only has 2 sub-options: disable/enable. Once you do that, you can o/c you 2500k/2600k like no tomorrow.

You may have to flash to 1.40 to do this. But 1.40 does have some issues with hard drives. Hope you can try and report back.

Just dropped v-core to 1.3 and still stable at 4.4. Shaved a couple of degrees of the temps. Nice.

Not sure, one of the sites talked about both steppings and said something along the lines of more people getting D1 as they sell more.
