16.99 for 6 months, 29.99 7th month. Standard 1.5/384
21.99 for 6 months, 34.99 7th month. Expert Pro 3.0/512

What makes this great is that the few that can attain 6mb can now get it for 49.99 then 69.99 after 6 months, 1 year term. You can downgrade to expert pro in 6 months so you would pay less to 34.99 as this promotion they say can only be applied once. Those on the old 1 year contract will revert to 29.99/34.99 after 1 year term so that is a good thing. instead of 49.99/59.99 which many have been outraged when that happens.

<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="https://swot.sbc.com/swot/dslMassMarketCatalog.do?do=view&serviceType=DYNAMICIP">https://swot.sbc.com/swot/dslMassMar......g.do?do=view&serviceType=DYNAMICIP</a>

The good news is that those who demand more speed can now get it but the bad news is that its more expensive then even the grandfathered expert plus dynamic 44.99 that has no contract but will end if you make changes to it or move out to another location. in the long run when you average out 16.99 x 6 + 29.99 it is more expensive then 14.99 for a year. confusing? sort of due to its complexity.

I don't blame them for making changes it has its drawback and advantages, they are probably losing out big money by selling it cheap namely 14.99/24.99 for a year. 14.99/24.99 has been retired since 10/31/05. Because I don't see the point of paying more then twice of pro speed, I stick with expert pro still for 21.99. A little increase in upload speed will not help much other then to help you leech faster. I need more time to think about expert plus, it is not really necessary and few if any will go for that if desperate enough for higher speed then pro.

saw this over on slickdeals, I'm surprised no one has posted over here until now. Pretty good deal.

Good thing I still have my grandfathered plan for $45 a month for 6 mbps.

Too bad I've only been getting about 4 mbps lately.

Nick:

There's a reason why you never saw it ...

Old deal (which just expired):

$15/month * 12 mo = $180/year (1.5 down)
$25/month * 12 mo = $300/year (3.0 down)

New deal
$17/month * 6 mo + $30/month * 6 mo = $282/year
$22/month * 6 mo + $35/month * 6 mo = $342/year

Maybe in comparison to other prevailing prices, but pretty tepid. Yeah, you had to call to reup, but I'd say a phone call was worth $420/year.

Same case here. I think the speed aren't as fast as it once was.

Most people do not quality for 6mbps because the distance requirement is 7500 ft or less.
Don't feel bad if it's too expensive, just be glad that only 10 percent qualify for this and are the ones who would pay anything to get better speed then pro. Not hot at all but great if money is no object to you.

I signed up for 1.5 mbps for $14.95/month, 1 yr contract, max download speed is 150kbs/s, hella slow. Roadrunner, I can get to 800kbs/s constant speed, which is more than 4 times faster. I used to download a 4.7 gig movie in less than 2 hrs, now I have to let me computer to download overnight for a movie. Too Bad, I moved to a new house and no RR runner, only Adelphia or else I would keep my roadrunner account.

rr is expensive.. 69.99 vs 14.95 is a 50.00 difference. why choose 1.5mb when 3.0 is twice as fast and only 10 dollars more, well was but is now more like 5 bucks more
those who are on 1 year contract at 14.99/24.99 will revert to 49.99/59.99 when it expires so better renew to the new promotion of 16.99/21.99 at 12 months.

ghetto, if you want fast speed the expert plus is your ticket, you need to be qualified by a technician upon ordering.
6 months at 49.99 and 69.99 for another 6 months. 1 year contract. i dunno if you can downgrade to pro after 6 months or not, but since 49.99 is already pricey for most, why bother paying much more just to have the best speed on dsl? at pro 3mbit is plenty for most already, up to 24gb per day, 700gb per month. that's not too shabby if you can keep up at 300kb/sec 24hrs a day.

oh well maybe they'll drop the expert plus in the near future to the favorable 31.99/44.99 then more would jump on this deal including me. not that i need it that bad but it is a plus when you want to download really fast.

the good news is that those on the old plan will revert to the new month to month pricing of 29.99/34.99/64.99
those who are on 16.99/21.99/49.99 can rerate after 6 months to keep their promotional price so they will save instead of sitting on their ass and do nothing.

Actually, after the 1st 6 months you can call back and get another 6 months at $22. It's only a 6 month contract, you don't have to stay for the other 6 months at $35.

6 months is good, this have caused the ETF Early Termination Fee to reduce to half as well. 99.99 instead of 199.99 strange numbers but marketing is to fool others to think that one penny can make a difference.
22.00 vs 25.00, you save 3.00 a month for a total of 36.00 a year. I dunno if it's worth it for some people who are lazy, maybe not.

arg they would only let me renew at 26bucks a month for 6month plan. grumble. supposedly the 16.99 deal is only if you buy caller id and other stuff. wouldn't give me a credit on the month they increased my service fee at end of contract either. annoying.

I was really excited when we installed a 6meg cable connection at my office. In the end, I expected more. From an individual user standpoint it doesn't do anything faster than my 2.5 meg at home. We needed the bandwidth to support our number of simultaneous users but just about every server you would download anything from caps the speed you can download at. I think until bandwidth gets cheaper on the server end and they can turn up the speed, these really fast connections are just money out the window.

Here in San Diego, Cox just made the 9mb down/1mb up available for $44.95/month (as long as you get Cable through them too)....it's definitely worth the extra $15/month over 4mb down/512kb up....

And most websites I download stuff from have no trouble uploading to me at 1100-1200kB/sec....

Other than a torrent with a lot of quality seeds I never see anything close to that. Can you give some specific examples?

I'm sticking with my 6mbit for $45 SBC DSL (stays at that price forever).
I'm slightly tempted by the new gamer comcast 8mbit, but it seems they wont let you have it if you dont have cable TV.

44.99 for 6mbit is kinda pricey when the upstream is only 96k higher, a 20 percent increse from pro speed. 21.99 for pro is best bangs for the bucks. I rarely download much but i do need higher upstream for gaming and p2p application. i know that most of you on grandfathered expert would renew if they wouldn't be so stingy. The price for new expert should be something like this, 31.99 first 6 months, 44.99 7th month and after unless you renew again. 6 months contract and not 1 year. users on 6mbit don't use much more then those on 3mbit, maybe they can download faster but still it's just marketing cuz it should had much higher upload like 896k.

quote from sbc website:"Order SBC Yahoo!® DSL Expert Plus for a one year term at $49.99 per month during six-month promotional period with an ongoing rate of $64.99/month after the promotional period."

I can see why most of ya on old expert 44.99 prefer not to renew, they have locked you into it. this is horrible. sbc = shady. most users on dslr demand for 768k upload to be charged this new price, they still wouldn't do it. maybe i'll get on it for a month to see what's it like and drop back to pro i can't afford to keeping paying this much just for higher download speed.
