i almost never get disconnected. my comp is on 24/7 and im on it a lot. never had connection problems here

i live in san antonio and previously had sbc
i moved within the city to a location that just had cable available and i have to say in san antonio cable is better
currently i get 3k down and 384 up from speakeasy through dslreports.com
i also have had more times without service with dsl then with cable in san antonio atlhough both services are good only cable being better

I have seen a slight difference. My down used to be 1200 now it's 1250.


I've seen a big difference in upload speed. Now at 213

I got upgraded. My downstream went from 1190 to 1250k. The best thing however is that my uploads went from 130k to 210k!!! No more lag when I play online (unless its the host). I live in the bay area.

Slight difference in downstream here also.. from ~1180 to 1200. My upload also went up from 128k to approx 220k.

My year contract with SBC will expire in december. I got in a promo about a year ago for $39.99 a month for a year. Am I still able to get on there current promos for like $29.99 for a year or will I have to start paying $49.99 a month? What should I do? Hope someone can help me out. Thanks

I guess we're spoiled here in Arizona. I have 1mbit bi-directional for $45/month.

I used to have Pac Bell DSL (and ISDN before DSL was around). I hated that 128kb up cap.

In conclusion, I would take 1mbit/1mbit over 1.5mbit/128kbit any day.

They only increased the UPLOAD speeds, NOT the DOWNLOAD. The upload speed has nothing to do with the download speeds.

Well not exactly. Anyone with SBC who maxed their upload knows that their upload speed has a big effect on the download. I need to cap the upload bandwidth on any filesharing app I use or else everything will slow down.

yup, saturating upload easily kills download cuz of tcp ip being slighty cr@ppy.

OMG this hype is all but a hype to get most that haven't been upgraded all excited...
I heard that my area going to be upgrade 11-11 to 11-15, i'm not holding my breath to this one. if not oh well who cares big deal. good thing i went with deluxe 288kbps upgrade or else I have to suffer with 160kbps until they upgrade to 256kbps which is even less then deluxe still. Its going to take until june of 04 befoel everyone is upgraded to the new profile! talk about laidback technician working at SBC.

My year contract with SBC will expire Nov. 10th. I've been offered a re-newal for $26.99/mo for a 1 year contract. My problem is trying to decide whether to renew or go back to Road Runner Cable. They're advetising that they are faster than DSL. Advice anybody?

We get 650KB/sec down but only can push out 60KB on our SBC DSL line at work. Only recently say past two months did our upload go to 60KB before that is was always stuck at 40KB. Much faster than a T1 (150KB down) but not great for hosting websites. It's good enough though for our email server which we host. We pay $199/month for this connection. We also have another business DSL line which is $80/month and that is only 150KB/sec down and only get this 13KB/up which is 128Kbps.
