Is thier anyway for me to extend my contract for another year at this discounted price or atleast $29.99 a month? Has anyone extend their service? I think I am suppose to pay $49.99 a month after my contract expires.

I extended my contract in October to $29.99/month. I tried back in June but the CSR said I was in the middle of my contract. The last time I called and asked the CSR said my contract expired that month and I could extend with the lower price, but I would be charged the old price for two billing cycles until the new price took effect.

where folks with 128k up will soon be getting 256k up and 256k up will be getting 384k up.

i already got my upload increase.

i now get 1.5 down and 256k up

there are lots of requirements,,,depending on the rep you get when you call in, will depend on what you get. sometimes if you have not had service w/ sbc for 2 years, there is a $200 deposit

if you live in the midwest state, MO, KS, AR, OK, TX, and want this service, PM me and i'll see what i can do about calling you at home and getting this set up.

if we signed up with higher cost contracts, will the cost go down to 29.95 automatically? or do we have to hassle em?

Since Comcast keeps raising rates and now shutting down high bandwidth
users (and by May will cut back usenet access for ATTBI customers who
were grandfathered in for a year of unlimited access), I finally decided
to make the switch to SBCYahoo DSL (they weren't available to me when
Comcast took over ATTBI but are now).

By ordering through dell Link I am
getting $26.95/month - $100 rebate from Dell plus $10 in movielink money and
10 Musicnow downloads. Not sure what movielink is, but what the heck -- it is
free. I was paying over $40 per month for Comcast (negotiated by paying for
11 months in advance, getting 1 free) and now will be paying less than half
that for DSL. I expect to see a slower connection, but given the future of Comcast
it is fast enough for me and gives me back my freedom.

Order SBC Yahoo! DSL for a one-year term for $26.95 per month, and receive a $149 SBC Yahoo! DSL Wireless Home Networking kit, $179 laptop Home Networking bundle or a $99 DSL modem, and receive a $99 Instant Credit (taxes and a $12.95 shipping and handling fee apply). Plus, get free activation and a free self-installation kit.

What kind or model is the DSL Wireless Home Networking Kit or the laptop home wireless kit?

The wired modem is a Speedster 5100.

I also ordered the wireless model, a 2Wire Homeportal 1000SW, but this POS was never able to connect so I returned it...

I bought a Netgear wireless router for 49$ AR and hooked it up to the speedster and this setup works like a dream.

Nice to see that while the Comcast monopoly keeps raising rates and
taking away popular options (and threatening high bandwidth users)
-- despite advertising higher download speeds that they really don't
want you to use -- that SBC is continuing it's area rollout and lowering
the prices to users. Thank god for competition.

SBC will be raising Dl speeds to 3.0 in the near future. Not gonna elaborate but its gonna happen. Only thing is your line is gonna have to support it.

YMMV on the sbc offerings. I just tried the Dell link above for a couple different address/locations and an SBC offering isn't listed... just Comcast or DirectLink. HOWEVER, earlier this week I had gone through a different SBC link and at least one of the above locations had an SBC-Yahoo offering.

I like the Dell offering since they rebate back $100 cash and there's only a nominal S&H change to sent out the modem and installation kit.

The reason SBC option didn't show up for me during Availability Check at Dell was because I am current Earthlink DSL customer which I cancelled today. I entered my old home phone with the same address and SBC DSL showed up as an option at Dell. Hopefully SBC will update my info in time to qualify for the $100 Rebate.
