There may be no trial period, but I remember reading in the fine print that you've got 30 days to accept the license agreement. If you don't agree, it seems you can cancel everything without an early termination fee.
If you could find that, it would be great. However I asked the rep, and she put me on hold to check. She said once your in, your in.
This is the clause that I was referring to:
"IMPORTANT NOTICE: The installation materials provided through the self-installation kit or by the service technician will contain the Terms of Service for SBC Yahoo! DSL. You should review these Terms of Service before installation by clicking on the Terms of Service icon below or by visiting
http://sbc.yahoo.com/terms/. You will need to accept these Terms of Service in order to use the DSL Internet service and continue with the installation process. If you decline to accept the Terms of Service, you will need to call 1-877-SBC-DSL5 to cancel the service within 30 days after service activation to avoid service charges and installation fees."
Since the termination fee is agreed to within the contract, I would think they'd have a hard time trying to get you to pay it if you cancel the service based on the notion that you don't agree to the contract.
There is also this clause in the contract:
"If the Service cannot be provided at the lowest synch rate in the range, either you or SBC may disconnect the Service without a termination charge to you."
So at least you can canel without a penalty if the performance is poor.
