SBLIVE 5.1 Users. Anyone experiencing this?

Hi all. I have a SBLiVE 5.1 Gamer+ and the latest drivers:

Revision: Revision 2
Date: 11/29/01 Size:9.03MB
SBLiveXPDrvUpdate.exe

My problem isnt really a problem..just an annoyance. Every time i reboot in order for my 2 back speakers to work i need to go to audiohq and RE-SELECT 4speaker mode. Why do i need to keep doing this? GRR

Once i set it to 4speaker it stays but the next time i reboot i need to set it to 4speaker again

ALSO.. everytime this happens i go to control panel/sounds/advanced and make sure its on 4speakers(quad) and it always is

so im believing something is wrong with the sblive drivers

anyone have this happen to them?

I've seen happen before. It's not isolated to just Creative cards, nor is it the drivers. Check all your apps that use sound. There's something else running that's setting it back to 2 speaker mode each time.

Nope. its definantly not because of any my software. i make sure absolutely nothing loads at startup except devldr32.exe which is needed for creative drivers to function

No, I didn't mean at startup. The app or game sets it to 2 speaker mode prior to you shutting down. The appearance is that upon startup the setting is changed.

When you install the drivers, it will ask you what mode you want to run in. My guess is that it will revert back to whatever you set during the install. Try reinstalling the drivers and selecting "4-speaker" when prompted.

If you selected 4-speaker during the install then disregard this post.
