I was pumping gas at a shell gas station last night, and immediately after I put in my credit card and started trying to pump, the pump stopped and cashier called me from intercom to go inside.

The cashier handed me the phone saying some guy need to talk to me, and this person told me that he's from shell corporation and there's something wrong with my credit card. He then asked me for my credit card #. After me questioning him who he works for and why does he think there's something wrong with my credit card he hanged up.

My guess is that some guy stakes out at the station and watch for people to start pumping and call in. Either that or maybe the cashier is in together with some outside guy to steal people's credit card #.

Man what a messed up world we live in

yea i called today and they just told me if i would like to listen to all the recent charges.

sounds like everything is ok. i mean... honestly there's no way that someone from the credit card company or shell gas can react to something that fast and make a phone call just for that. not in America it won't.

It's not abnormal for your CC company to call you about usage on your card, but they shouldn't be asking for your CC#

And they shouldn't be calling the gas station you are at. They should be contacting you through the number you have on file.

I would call the police and tell them what happened. Sounds like the person inside is working with someone else to steal card numbers. I don't think you have anything to worry about since if they had access to your card number they wouldn't be asking for it. Keep an eye out on charges though.

think that i should? I mean it seriously sounds like an inside job but I wouldn't have any prove and police would probably just sneeze at it.

Wouldn't hurt to have it documented. Who knows, it may aid in an ongoing fraud investigation..
