Scanner problem

I've been using my Epson 1200U (USB) scanner on Windows 98 for several years with no problems, but now when I attempt to scan into any application, I get "Error opening data source." When I try to select the source in any application, I get "Error opening data source manager." I've removed the scanner from the Device Manager and reinstalled the driver, and still get the error messages. The scanner seems to power on just as in the past. I've also unplugged the power cord, waited a minute, and plugged it back in. When I check the driver in the Device Manager, it says it's operating properly. I've done a search on Google and several forums, but there doesn't seem to be much information available. Other than installing a few games and game controller for my nephew, I haven't made any changes recently. I'm hoping someone can help me figure out how to solve this. Thanks.

Tried re-installing the TWAIN driver?

Yes, I reinstalled the TWAIN driver (latest from Epson's site) twice.

Do you still use Windows98?

Yes, I uninstalled before I reinstalled. Still using 98.

Problem solved. Grasping at straws, I reinstalled Presto Page Manager, an application that came with the scanner, and now the Epson TWAIN works. I didn't have time to go through the application to see what new files it installed, but there must have been one or more that made the difference.
