This is not a malfunction. This is just the way it is. I bought an HP 2100C scanner last weekend. USB, 36 bit, 600 x 1200 dpi... When I first start to scan something, I have to wait for the lamp to warm up, which usually takes about 45 seconds. The actual scanning is quick. And I don't have to wait as long for it to warm for subsequent scans.
My last scanner's lamp was on all the time (probably one reason it died!) so I didn't have to wait. Are all HP scanners like this? How long does it take your scanner to warm up or does it require warming up at all? Give me some brands. I'm thinking about taking it back and getting a different scanner. I'm just an impatient son of a b.
