The movie is classic, but how is the game? It starts out where the movie ends, except instead of Tony dying, he survives, excapes, then basically has to come back to rebuild his empire. The intro is sweet, clips from the movie, mixed in with some graphics and a list of all the voice actors in the game. There are tons, everyone from Ice T, to Michael Rappaport to Bam Margara (and about 2 dozen others)

The graphics are pretty decent, the character models are pretty bleh looking, with hands that look like paws, and the hair looks really bad. It looks a lot like GTA, and plays similar. Which isn't a bad thing. True to the movie it has tons of f**ks and other cool words thrown in. The music rocks, it has mostly older tunes with a few new ones. I dunno why they'd put newer music in, but the old stuff is top notch. There was something strangely cool about mowing down dozens of rivals while Billy Ocean's Carribian Queen was playing

controls are weird, sometimes Tony just seems to do whatever he wants. It has an auto-lock feature, which I usually don't like on PC games. But there are so many enemies on the screen at once sometimes it's really better to have it. You can take an ungodly amount of damage before you die. It's very violent, you can shoot people in the balls, blow off body parts and blood splatters eveywhere. The more you kill the more your meter goes up, throw in the ability to taunt them while you're putting bullets threw their heads. When your meter's full you can go into first person mode and really go crazy with the slaughter and take less damage in the process.

I think they captured the essence of the movie pretty well, when I first heard they were making a Scarface game eairly last year. One thing I remember reading was the game wouldn't contain any drugs. Thankfully this game is full of Yayo (Cocaine) Although I haven't figure out if you can ever actually get to snort any.

You can't kill anyone, only people who have f*cked Tony over, just like in the real movie. Kind of unrealistic that you can run a person over in your car and they just keep getting up.

Voice acting is wonderful, especially whoever is doing Tony. He sounds spot on for Al Pachino.

The game is mission based, but you can roam around, kill people, sell coke, pretty much do whatever you wish. It's fun, I love the amount of cussing and over the top shoot-outs in it. Dunno if it will stay this interesting to me, but I'm a good 4 hours into the game and I'm still hooked.

I'll give it a 4/5 even with the less then great graphics it's still a blast to play. One note. When I ran it the first time and it did the auto configuration, it ran like a slide show with mostly everything maxed. I adjusted it down a bit and it runs smooth.

I agree. I've put around 5 hrs into it thus far, and have only completed like 15% of the game (the stats screen tells you all this and more). Most people are saying it takes on average 40 - 50 hrs to complete. I think that's nice for a change, instead of zipping through a $50 game in 7 hrs.

In regards to the llello, supposedly Tony learned his lesson and no longer uses his own product.

I think it's kind of cool how Tony can't kill civilians, goes along well with his so called "moral code" from the film. You can, however, go on a rampage and take out whoever you want if you switch over to one of the other characters, like the assassin or enforcer, which you can "buy".

Visually, with everything maxed out, it is slightly above all the GTA games. It is a 1st gen console port, so don't expect high end PC visuals. Most notable are the reflections on the water and how the water actually looks like water. It runs silky smooth with my 6800GT, 3400+, 2GB RAM system. The character model for Tony is impressive, as are his manerisims, and the voice acting is top notch. I read that the guy that does the voice acting for Tony in the game (Andre Sogliuzzo), used to be Al Pacino's driver at some point, and was recommended by Pacino.

There are some cool features in the game, like being able to call your driver to bring you a car at any time (and he can ride with you and help out in fire-fights). Supposedly if you purchase the limo, he'll take you where you want to go. It's also nice having a stash of weapons in the trunk of your car. I see how parts of the gameplay could get repetitive to certain people, with all the trips required to buy and sell drugs. I enjoy that side of the game though.

Controls on the PC aren't bad... If you've ever played any of the GTA games on the PC and thought it was alright, then you shouldn't have any control issues with Scarface. You can also use a controller if you'd like. The optional lock-on feature actually comes in real handy and it's not awkward to use.

I'm impressed that it hasn't crashed a single time for me. San Andreas (when first released on the PC) crashed quite often on my system. I also haven't noticed any serious bugs of any kind.

All in all, I'm quite pleased with Scarface. If you are a fan of the film and can have an open mind about Tony surviving the end of the film, then you should enjoy the game. The story is actually pretty well done.

I think the graphics are not good at all and the control isn't so hot. Yet, the more I play the game the more I like it and in the end its gameplay that counts. Love the Pacino soundalike and the game is hilarious sometimes. Great soundtrack too.

The game sucks, waste of $50. You can't even remap the controls. What's up with that? Plus it's sluggish in a lot of parts. And yes, my system more than covers the recommendations.

My bro rented it for the ps2 and so far I really like it. I don't think I'd dig it playing on a keyboard/mouse, but with a joypad I think it'd rock on the pc. And considering most movie to game attempts suck, I'm really surprised with how good this is.

The readme says they've optimized the PC version to work well with an Xbox360 controller, so I can only assume with any pad it would be good. With the targeting system a pad might be really nice on this game, but I don't have one to test this theory

How do you like them balls meter? What does that do anyways? According to something I read in EGM, once a "balls meter" was mentioned in Scarface, Jack Thompson got excited or something.

lol the "balls" meter could be thought of as a rage or adrenaline meter. You fill the meter slowly by getting nice shots, taunting in the middle of a fight, near misses in your car...etc. Once the bar is filled you can go into rage mode which is unlimited ammo and invincibility for a small time. Not only that, but each person you kill in rage gives you a little health when you get back to normal. Really good to use when you're almost out of health and you're surrounded.

Well been playing it for the PC w/ my dual action gamepad (basically a ps2 controller) and it's really nice. My x850 runs it well at 4xAA 8xAF and 'far' draw distance at 1280x1024. Of course it's slightly better than xbox graphics so it really should be running better than this, but still not bad.

I dig it, maybe it's just me but the taunting doesn't work well on the PC. I press T and try to release it right where I'm supposed to, but it always seems to fvck up on me. If you talk to people over and over you end up getting ball points (I believe) when it says "conversation complete" some of them are pretty daam funny too. I love how it goes into 1st person mode when you're in balls mode and it becomes a bullet fest.

the game gets more interesting the more I play, I killed a drug dealer, took his coke and sold it on the street, also have taken out 3 gangs (can't find any more) and got lots of monies in the bank.

I'm using the 360 controller on my PC and it is by far the best implementation in any game I have used it in.

The game is enjoyable too, although dying or failing a mission sucks.

I seen previews on TV and it looks ALOT like GTA which I enjoy. Although I've never seen the movie. How does this compare to GTA? The graphics sure look the same IMO.

No re-mappable controls & 3rd-person perspective (except in rage-mode) equals a no-sale for me ... too bad because this game looked pretty cool.

it's a decent clone, I give it an 80% plus +5% for good voice acting on Tony's part.

I like it better than GTA simply because the gunplay and fighting is much better. Plus the GTA missions were dumb and freestyling got old. I love how you don't have to follow the main missions to advance the story for a while so you can build up your money and such. Plus you get to play as different characters (not just Tony)!

I'm still elbow deep and loving it. The gun fights are awesome and who needs to car jack people when I can have my driver bring my personal car to me anywhere?

oh and when a coke deal goes bad it's awesome, the game lets you finish the bad deal and you can do another large purchase right away without having to find a lead.

question for you man, do you have a problem taunting? I press T and try to let it go within the range it says to get my balls meter up, or get more money from a coke deal, but it seems to stop wherever the hell it wants, sorta like that stupid game at Dave & Busters where you can win a Nintendo DS if the bar stops at the top. I've never had this much trouble with a game!

I use the Xbox 360 controller and taunting it not an issue.

still playing this.

Last night I did a 15kg coke deal. It was a big enough deal that the supplier sent a plane to pick me up and take me to some islands. I got my coke and soon discovered that the island and surrounding waters were full of people who really hated me. I got in a speed boat and had to floor it while getting chased by pirates. I eventually pulled into a harbor in the main area and drop off my 15kg.

Then I had to distribute it to all my fronts while having to stop every so often and kill the gangs that were attacking my livelyhood. After dropping off all the coke and hooking up each front I was sitting on a cool 5 million $$$.

All in a days work. Actually it was like 30mins but it felt like a day.

played last night for a couple hours.

I was doing 15kg deals left and right but now I can only get 7kg deals. All my gang and cop heat are zero'd out and I can't seem to figure out why I'm stuck with such small coke deals.

Sounds awesome, Rage187!!

I'm looking forward to playing this game this weekend. I have a 360 controller as well. It's good to hear it is setup by default for a good 360 implementation. Most games I use the 360 require specific profiles or configs in XBCD.

The reviews gave quite bad scores, but Gamespot seemed to say the story (the made up part from the end of movie) and dialogue wasn't good so that brought down the score a lot, but from what I've seen its definitely more worthy than a 6.0. Graphics look OK to me especially since I can use AA/AF, controls should be great with a 360 controller, story + dialogue should be good, gameplay should go from good to fair (depending mission), so I'm excited to finally play it!
