Half-Life 2 isn't usually considered an extremely scary game, but the monsters in there scare the hell outta me. Guess it's something to do with phobias. I much more enjoy the fights with the compound.

I don't get how someone can get scared by a game. Yeah, I could see that if a monster attacks out of no where it could shock you a little bit, but come on. However, if we are going by shock factor it would have to be System Shock 2. A great game, but ruined by the fact that it's fscking annoying.

Arcade - Space Fury, Chiller, Gorgar, Death Race.
C-64 - Friday the 13th, Maniac Mansion.
Probably many more. A lot of games were a little scary when I was younger. LOL.

Amiga - It Came From the Desert, played in the dark, running through my stereo. The Shadow of the Beast II intro. Moonstone, especially the intro. www.lemonamiga.com
PC - Half Life and Unreal were a little scary if played in the dark. Diablo.

Really? The only part of MM I jumped was when Edna was in the kitchen. Sometimes she was there, sometimes not.

I agree, Maniac Mansion was not scary... It was campy and humorus.

Thief 2 and Doom 3 exp. freak me right out at times. Only game to ever really get my heart pounding though was Syndicate Plus, micro-managing 4 dudes against 40 crazy, gauss-gun toting, lvl 3 armoured agents was always a herculean (sp?) effort.

You aren't the only one...Ravenholm took me a bit longer to get through because of that. I play my games with headphones on, and I know that makes a difference for me. I can't stand speakers for gaming...even if it means a less-scarier experience.

I still cannot play Doom 3 with headphones...gotta be no sound or have speakers with someone or a few friends with me.

When I was younger, Friday the 13th was scary... Jason would jump out and I'd be by myself and be freaked out. I haven't had that feeling since F.E.A.R (heh you can tell I don't play that many games). The hallway scene in slow-mo had my heart racing.

Sorry, wasn't too sure on that one. I was thinking it was but maybe not. I don't remember too much about it since it's been 17-18 years for me.

fatal frame 2... the part when you're looking thru some barred windows then a kid pops up right in front of you (bonus points if you take a pic of him, assuming you're still holding on to the controller)
