Scariest Game Ever Played?

Undying, Doom3 (not scary, just jumpy as hell ), Thief (the crypt missions - not overly scary, just that zombies sound creepy at night with EAX )

Amazing game! One of my favorites

I love scary games... in fact, i won't play them unless it's at the prime time of the day when I am most apt to being scared (like the middle of the night by myself) I seem to be more immersed in those types of games than other ones, therefore enjoy them a lot more.

Man-Hunt was a pretty creepy game... Doom III took to much mental energy to play it so I couldn't enjoy it as much as I'd like (mental energy as in forcing yourself to go on when I first started the game I was having to quit every 30 minutes to recouperate)

Resident Evil 4 PWNS. Not the scariest game, but a great game none the less.
Half Life 2 had its moments, but overall wasnt so bad.

I haven't played it, but isnt the game called "fatal frame II" generally considered the scariest game ever made?

Yes HL2 and HL2 had their scary pop out moments, same thing with Doom 3.

yeah, my roomate used to laughed at me when I play System Shock 2... good times...

now Thief 2 wasn't that scary afterall, but Thief 1 was. anyway, what is that Shalebridge Cradle level about? I absolutely loved the Thief series, too bad LookingGlass is gone now.

i played Fatal Frame 2 at my friend's place, it was very scary in the beginning, but then it gets repetitive.

I never had a Playstation, so I never get to play any of the Resident Evil series. (i did watch my friend played RE:1 though, and I still remember that bloodhound 'guarding' the first door)

Resident Evil 1 for the Playstation. With the lights off and the sound up on the stereo, the camera angles that wouldn't let you see the zombie(s) scared the crap outta me! Loved that game...

Yes, there is a Thief, Deadly Shadow...T3. You can buy it in the stores now.

No, I am not a part of the original looking glass studio's. I have had the privilige of meeting the designers of the game, and have toured Ion Storm Austin. Where T3 was made, there were quite a few original staff members that worked on the earlier Thief games, that also worked on T3.

I have also worked closely with one of the designers, he was on T3, and is a part of the community that is tributed from LookingGlass Studios. He, and many others, myself included made a 15 missions expansion pack for T2. Took years to make.

So yeah, you could say, I am involved, over 5 years now. I go by a different name on that forum. Doing voice work, helping make Fan Missions, doing art work, for their briefing scenes, etc. Have made many many friends on that forum.

If you are interested in more about the forum, and possibly nabbing some FM's for T3, eventually. Check out. TTLG You will find lots of information on the FM's, and more. Have fun.

Games really aren't scary but could be.

Suppose you sat in a chair that could shock you or poke needles in you when you took heat. You would either stop playing or start playing better!

It would be cool to use MIDI interfaces to fire off lights in different places in the room, activate shakers and even fog/smoke effects. A fogger filled with mike's magic canibus juice would be trippy.

My mom was a big horror movie fan, by the time I was 10 I was immune to anything scary as far as movies. That immunity carried over to games

It took me awhile to get used to RE4 due to its creepy atmosphere, but the more funny/cool deaths scenes it showed, the easier it was; like the number times you can get Leon's head lopped off hahaha

agreed. I hate scary games as well. I HATED HL2!!!! I loved the physics. but crawling through dark Ravenholm with all the dam black headcrabs just unnerved me too much. Going in that house to get the crossbow. THAT STUPID LITTLE ROOM! Only to have a fvucking piggy tail zombie to come up behind you throwing those FVUCKING poinson headcrabs scared me too dam much. I HATED THAT GAME!!!

I downloaded the AVP2 demo, where you could try it out as a Marine. I saw the first Alien in the theater as a 6th grader, and it remains, along with the first Nightmare On Elm Street, one of the two scaries movies I've ever seen. I had nightmares for a long time.

So I'm going down the corridor as a Marine, and the thing is telling me that the Aliens are coming, or all around me, something like that.

I never saw one. I killed the game, and uninstalled it. Couldn't handle it.....I guess the memories were too vivid or something. I still think the first one is the scariest Alien of all.
