Scariest game of all time?

I know there is another, better thread around here somewhere, but search sucks (as we all already know).

For me it was Resident Evil 1, scared the crap out of me the first time I played it. Of the newer games, Condemned: Criminal Origins was very very freaky to me.

diablo 1 is pretty scary - when you die, all of your items drop to the ground. the atmosphere is perfect. great game.

Resident Evil for Gamecube. When those zombies got up the first time, I screamed like a little bitch.

SS2 wasn't that scary

for 'creepy', try the Shalebridge Cradle level of Thief DS ...

playing AvPII as a Marine was spooky.

don't even mention the cheap 'boos' of D3 ... Q4 was more scary

Doom 3 was pretty scary to me at some points (cd cases stacked on top of the sub woofer falling down and scaring the sht out of me FTW) even though it got old fast.

This might have been because of my age at the time, but the original Doom, and even Doom II scared the piss outta me. I would play all night in the old farm house I grew up in, out in the country. Most times I couldn't sleep when I was done because I would jump and freak out at every little sound the house would make.

i never got to finish it

half life was, at a few points, damn scary itself. i seem to remember a headcrab in some ductwork i was crawling through. scared the bejesus out of me.

The seaside manor mission in Bloodlines. My nerves were on edge that entire time.

Also, the first time in Dark Forces when you encounter a Dark Trooper and you're in these tight corridors like a maze and you can hear the clacking of its feet as it's seeking you. The first Dark Troopers you face are basically like The Terminator's skeleton and early on in the game the only weapons you have that can hurt them are thermal grenades which are in short supply and nearly useless in tight quarters.

Haha I know it was far from the scariest. It just the only one with graphics and audio quality good enough to completely suck me in when I was young enough to be shaken by a game. I loved resident evil 1 and 2, however I did not play them on a 36inch screen with a 800w surround system.
