Scenic Routes. Post them!

I live in Canada so nearly every route is a scenic route. Basically any drive through cottage country in Ontario (Muskoka, Kwarthas) has a lot of beautiful scenery. Did a trip along highway 35 last year, south of Huntsville. Tons of beautiful lakes.

Argh. A patch of that Hwy 1 stretch just sunk. I'll have to wait a couple of weeks to go fishing it looks like.

The flint hills between Emporia and Wichita Kansas. Nice rolling hills, lots of open plain. Personally I can't stand it, but it has a calming effect on my wife and she loves the wide open area. The turnpike meanders through this area and passes cattle pens, ranches, a bridge of a small lake at El Dorado, and miles upon miles of wide open prairie that is teaming with wildlife.

Skyline Drive is also very pretty.

Drive from the US to Canada, or the reverse. It is a hell of a drive.

I also drove from St Louis down highway 70 through vale colorado through the mountains north and down into the Salt lake Valley in the early morning then up through the canyons to Cache Valley in Utah. It is a beautiful area. Then on the way back came the northern route over the high plateau of the northwestern United States.

Sure you can fly, but everyone should take some drives to the more out of the way sites like the Black Hills, and old Faithful, and the mountains with all the president's Heads (Rushmore?). It is fun to purposely get off the main highway and travel through national parks and scenic highways. You have to purposely go places like the Corn Palace just to see it.

I can vouch for this, I live in Cache Valley and it is beautiful area. The best is the drive through Logan Canyon over to Bear Lake, twisty fun and the scenery is amazing.
