Got it (the one in the ad, sort of) in store for $169 plus tax, 5ms response time and HDCP over DVI. Typing on it right now. A little backlight bleed, but other wise very nice.

Can anyone suggest a way to get a discount at the store? It's not available online for me, but my local store has a couple in stock at $169.99 plus tax.

I just called a local store and they said they would honor the $15 off coupon on the website. I don't know if they will honor the $30 off $150+ coupon code though.

They have 6 in stock and two are on hold for me so I'm off to pick them up! Nice deal OP

remember to do a search on sceptre in this forum if you want to know about this one. the 22" sceptres were plagued with problems, confirmed by myself and others. that thread is older than 90 days. good luck if you do jump. problems might have been related more to the 22 than the 20, I don't know. still, I won't waste time on this brand anymore.

I already tried that. I was hoping to get the Scepter for $135.99 plus tax. Unfortunately, the Sceptre monitor is not a clearance item, so the stores I called would not accept the 20% off in-store clearance monitor coupon. However, the manager of one of the stores did say he would accept the $15 off online-only coupon since the OfficeMax website wouldn't let me order one. (At the time I tried to place the order, the website said it was "discontinued", but it became available again a couple hours later. Both managers assured me that it has not been discontinued in their stores.)

There were two monitors on clearance this evening. One is a Hewlett-Packard 20" for $229 (sorry, I didn't ask for any details), and the other one is a Viewsonic VX2235wm 22" monitor for $249. You can use the 20% off in-store coupon on either of those. $199.20 plus tax is a pretty good price for the Viewsonic, which normally goes for about $300.

I decided to go for the 22" Sceptre and I love it! No dead pixels, no light bleeding....it has exceeded my expectations. I'm using it in VGA mode right now, so I expect it to look even better when I hook it up using DVI.

I also don't know why Sceptre has a bad reputation, because I have nothing but good things to say about it

They are not discontinued. Call a local store and ask them if they have both monitors in stock. My store did and put them on hold for me!
