SCEPTRE X20WG - Any Good???

I have been in the market for a widescreen LCD for some time, primarily for gaming, typical home office applications, some video editing and some photo editing...however, my primary interest is in gaming.

The NEC 20WMGX2 has always been at the top of my list, but also out of my price range for what I am willing to spend on an LCD. I was going to get the Dell until all the banding issues started to hit the forums.

I am not that familiar with Sceptre as a company...all of my past CRT monitors have been Samsungs.

However, I have heard some good things about the Sceptre X20WG, and it is currently available on NewEgg for $199.99 after rebates, which is dirt cheap for a widescreen LCD.

So...is this a good gaming monitor...I can't seem to find a retail store that carries it such that I can see how good it is myself.

Can't speak for the 20" model itself, but I've had the Sceptre 19" widescreen LCD for over 6 months now and it's been great.

I've read a bunch of mixed reviews on the web, like other Sceptre panels it has noticable blacklight bleed and the LED is too bright for some people, I guess if you don't play in a dark room it should be ok. Out of the box, colors aren't great compared to high end LCDs, but maybe with some tweaking it wouldn't be that big of a problem; however its viewing angle is limited, combined with the cheap stand and lack of DVI cable might make you spend more money than just the $200 pricetag.

Well, if I can't find a good deal on other 22" LCDs by Christmas I might pick this one up from Costco since they're selling it for the same price but with better return policy in case if I don't like it.

9 times out of 10 you get what you pay for. i'm guessing its so cheap b/c it uses one of the cheaper lcd panels.
