Trump reaching across the isle to get shit done.

Maybe there's a reason to have hope yet.

Hey Agent, where have you been? I'm sure there's something about this concerning carrying racist water

I am a Trump supporter and have been reading these forums over the past month. Some of you guys are pretty nasty classifying all Trump supporters as racist or deplorable (we're not). Some of your opponents make similar classifications of the left (they're not). Grow up.

Congress approval ratings are much lower than President, for Obama and for Trump. Ryan and McConnell couldn't put a bill on his desk for signature. So, he said screw it, if the dems can actually deliver votes we'll bring them into the fold. If this gets congress working and actually passing bipartisan meaningful bills I'm all for it.

My biggest thing is tax reform. If corporate taxes can be reduced to 15-20% and there is a one-time (or permanent) relief of bringing in foreign cash tax free, you guys watch businesses put that $ to work. They will spend on R&D, capital expenditures, and employment growth. It will get the economy growing faster which is good for everyone.

If Trump partners with Dems on immigration and those same Dems partner on tax reform, that's fine by me. I also think he is sending a very clear message to GOP Congress to get their act together. IMO that is his thinking.

Taxes are charged only on profit and many businesses receive tax breaks on investments so if they wanted to they could increase their investments now and reduce their tax burden. Clearly the tax rate isn't the issue.

Most trump supporters may not be racist but most racists are trump supporters. That's the company you keep, deal with it snowflake. (I hope you weren't offended by that comment, I was merely acting presidential).

gonna have to call bullshit on this one. i'd argue that all that profit will go to shareholders. large companies have plenty of money to spend on R&D or capital as is. you don't get to be the most profitable company on the planet somehow and not have money to spend on capex or R&D.

could be wrong, but i'll believe it when i see it. nothing in corporate culture in america screams "let's invest in our people an facilties!". it's always "how can i extract more profit?"

When you allow racists and deplorables to set up shop under your tent, the stink rubs off on you. The Republican coalition depends on nativists and racists in order to remain viable as a national party. The party leadership might not like that dynamic, but it is the truth, and they are required to throw red meat out to them to keep them in the fold.

For me personally, Trump is simply a despicable and broken human being, and that will never change. However, as much as I don't like it, he sits in the office, so the peoples business cannot simply be put on hold for 4 years (hopefully less) due to Democrats refusing to work with him even on things they might agree on. That is what Republicans did to Obama. If Trump's ego can be stroked by Schumer and Pelosi enough to get him onboard with policies I agree with, then I am all for it.

I think die hard no-compromise conservatives have legitimate reason for worry here. Trump adores adulation and praise. He tunes in regularly to Fox to get it, but Fox is like the fat chick in school that is always swooning over you. It's better than nothing but rather cheap feeling. The Times, NBC, CNN, etc are the pretty girls who's praise Trump really desires. One flattering article in the NYTimes would mean more to Trump than months worth of empty praise by Hannity or Fox & Friends. I think the democratic leadership, in concert with left leaning media, are going to tap into this and start steering Trump towards their policies. Will be interesting to see how Ryan and McConnell react if this dynamic persists. They going to refuse to bring up legislation that the leader of their party supports? That would not go over well with the base, who it turns out are far more tribal than ideological, and Trump is their tribal chief right now.

When you're voting on the same side as a majority of KKK members and vocal racists, you might want to rethink your vote.

I get your point but it's not relevant, who have the racists voted for in the past, this certainly wasn't the first election they voted in. Think about it are you calling around 1/3 the country racists because they voted Trump? Think an opinion like that is going to help get someone you approve of elected?
This is all I have to say about this topic

Not at all, I don't think 1/3rd of the country is racists, I'm saying that if you find yourself voting for something that the majority of racists are voting for, it might be worth looking at why you're voting for that person, and whether or not it's worth throwing your vote in that same hat as people you may have very, very differing views with.

This is accurate. We'd see stock buybacks, dividends, acquisitions, etc.

If my corporate taxes were cut that money is going straight into my pocket.

After keeping an eye on twitter for most of today I've got to say, even if nothing actually productive happens, the chaos and dissension that Schumer managed to sow in Trumpworld/GOP over a single dinner is nothing short of remarkable.

I see this as a deliberate action in an attempt to take some heat off the Russia investigation and view it as nothing more than a calculated ploy.

I'm not among those who think Trump is playing 15 dimensional chess. He's simply trying to get from one moment to the next.

Trump thrives on chaos, adulation and the excitement of the deal. Not great qualities for a President, or government for that matter, but I anticipate the Democrats will find far more common ground with Trump that plays to his ego, more so than those who elected him.

I predict Trump will be championing single payer before the year is out.

This will never happen. There is no way Trump could get the republicans to allow legislation similar to DACA to pass. It's an obvious ploy by Schumer and Pelosi to make the GOP fight against itself and it appears to have worked.
