Science Fair with computer

For my high school physics class I am required to do a science fair project. I am thinking of getting a temperature sensor and storing it in my computer case as my project will be based on the fan configurations of my Arc Midi and running a resource hungry application. Few questions, what applications will run my 2500k and 670 FTW at full load? I'm probably going to only run it for 15-30 minutes per configuration to avoid damage. Any other thoughts?

No, it isn't the best I can do, but with my robotics club going to state in 2 weeks, and calculus not lightening up, this is what I came up with.

One way to make this "super easy" project actually seem interesting: do something to color the air, so that people can get the air currents in the case (does it have a large window?).

It would be really cool if you could have a temperature-sensitive, color-changing air additive.

Prime95 is what I used to use to stress test my CPU. Dunno about GPU tho. Crysis?

Just submerge all of your hardware in cooking oil and measure the temperature of the cooking oil. It's been done, but I'm sure it will be a lot cooler than mounting a temperature sensor (which your mobo should already have, btw) inside your PC.

Run primegrid on boinc.
The Generalized Fermat Prime Search is pretty taxing on your system. You can run the gpu for this as well as the cpu.

Pish, a model of a house would be a bit more useful. A few layouts of model ceiling fans, window fans, etc. Thermometers and wind flow meters everywhere.

FurMark stresses the GPU pretty damn well.

This, unless your GPU's drivers specifically throttle it. (Some call it a "power virus".) In such a case, try Folding@Home on the GPU.

If you're having trouble coming up with a better project, what about cooking an egg on the CPU? (Do it carefully!)
