the eco-KOOKS will declare it an endangered species and shut down the earth.

That's what the Smilodons are for!

On second thought - Scratch that: The Romans tried to rid themselves of a problem by feeding it to large felines, and look where it got them!

Quite a few of my friends raise homing pigeons. Why would you want them to clone them? And, if you're thinking of passenger pigeons, it'd probably be pretty useless to clone them.

ok.. passenger pigeosn then.

but why would it be useless?

Their mating habits. They only seemed to live successfully in very large groups. Before they went extinct, there were many zoos with small flocks that were intent on breeding the birds. Their populations slowly shrank, rather than grew.

this is pretty exciting, too bad we have to wait 5-6 years before we can find out if it will work.

God creates mammoths. God destroys mammoths. God creates man. Man destroys God. Man creates mammoths.

it will be cool to have them in zoos.
Probably not economically convenient as food source.

I'd ride one to work. Great environmental transportation. Traffic jams are a thing of the past(at least for me and my mammoth) :^)
I'm sure keeping it well fed would be just as expensive as gassing up a monster truck. At least the poop can be used for something.
:hmm:

It would really only be suitable for those in more rural areas. I have a few places I could pasture a mammoth, and I could save the mammoth poop to burn in my stove. Win-win :^D
