Its not being cancelled right away. It'll finish the season and be over with.

It was going to happen sooner or later. Not many shows run for 10+ years. Plus the story as of late felt dragged out.

I honestly felt the addition of stargate atlantis hurts SG-1. I would rather SG-1 fold into atlantis. Plus with richard dean anderson gone, it hasn't felt the same.

My own opinion is that aside from the filler episodes, this last season with the Ori has been the best on many levels.

I also prefer Jack O'Neal over Ben Bowder's character, but I consider the Ori a far more interesting and sinister protagonist over the Gu'auld anyday. I hope the series ends well, and intelligently because right now they do have the material to do so.

SciFi channel executives have no clue. They'd rather pimp crap like 'Mansquito' over SG1 to sell cheap airtime. Only a matetr of time before BSG gets the ax, although it's the far better series.

All of the current SG1 cast should ascend and kick everyone's asses, both the Ori and those pansy Ancients.

This is terrible news, SG1 is still one of the best TV shows on the air, period.

I don't see how they can continue Atlantis and not SG1 though, thats some bullsh!t.

Well, it should have been obvious with all the crap episodes lately. It's like they were trying to get canceled. Why can't they have 2 consecutive great episodes. Or even 2 consecutive good episodes. I kept thinking to myself, "If they keep this up, they'll get canned for sure." Sad to say I was right.

the bits and pieces i've seen were pretty tacky. atlantis was cheesy too but it seemed more fun.

It's over. The ratings are too low for SciFi to justify continuing to pay for it. It's not surprising since the costs keep going up each year to pay for veteran actors; it was bound to get canceled one way or another. Oh well, it hit 200+ episodes, and this means we'll get a quick conclusion to the Ori arc.

Thanks Virge

True, odd how they can keep the newer series but dump the original.

But both of those shows can't hold a candle to Battlestar Galactica.

atlantis is good, but they need to stop making the crap like they had last week...

I just watched the first season of BSG - good show. How does it fit in with the (1978?) original series?

Puppets!

Lol i needed that, within the last 1/2 hr. i found out i have gone thru angry, sad, depressed, angry again and now laughing. i think it's time to get rid of this cast (sam, daniel, tielk) and let the farscape folk deal with the ori, they need that ultimate wormhole technology to get rid of them, hehe.

He just got flown in from Thailand, and is being questioned by authorities.

Plus wasting all these $$$ on crap sci-fi-b-rated movies like Prehistoric Bears?? WTF?
I agree totally. The bi-weekly made for scifi channel movies are not just bad they are amazingly bad. Without SG1 the Scifi channel only has two shows, BSG and Atlantis.
I think the fault is the head of scifi, whose name I can't remember. Its a person with no scifi background who has no committment nor understanding of science fiction (hence ECW).
As far as the future of the SciFi channel, unless they get it on a High Definition feed where I live than I will seldom watch it any more, outside of the two shows I mentioned.
Oh, I forgot that they just contracted to show the second season of Dr. Who, so I will watch that.

NBC owns the Sci-Fi channel. So, they are ultimately the ones responsible. But you're right about the current Sci-Fi channel president. Since she came on board, the Sci-Fi channel has become decidedly unSci-Fi.

All hope is not lost (although I've struggled with the last 2 seasons of SG-1):

From http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060822/tv_nm/stargate_dc_1,

Producer MGM is exploring the possibility of taking the series to yet another outlet.
"MGM has tremendous amount of confidence in 'Stargate,' and we are vigorously working to continue the franchise," studio spokesman Jeff Pryor said.
