xBiffx Let me know when St. Patrick's Day is about advancing some cause instead of just another reason to be merry and drink until you pass out.[/QUOTE said:
NO DOGS, NO BLACKS, NO IRISH,,, NO IRISH NEED APPLY Those were the window signs that gave rise to St. Patricks Day and pride in being Irish.

How could it not be? It undermines the overall message. The purpose of the parade is to gain respect, dignity, and recognition. It's probably best for the parade participants to practice it as well. People are very good at reciprocating behavior.

Saying that its not detrimental because number have increased are meaningless. It was never a numbers game, it was a recognition and message game. Sure its easier with numbers but more numbers doesn't guarantee your message gets through.

http://national.suntimes.com/national-politics/7/72/987251/gay-marriage-support-poll

The poll shows that 61 percent of Americans support same-sex marriage while 35 percent said they were opposed to it. That’s a huge change from 10 years ago when supporters polled at 39 percent and opponents polled at 58 percent.

http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2015/06/29/most-americans-now-say-learning-their-child-is-gay-wouldnt-upset-them/

Three decades ago, most Americans felt it would be troubling to have a child tell them he or she was gay: In a 1985 Los Angeles Times survey, nine-in-ten American adults (89%) said they would be upset if this happened, and just 9% said they would not be.

But views of homosexuality have shifted over time, and today nearly six-in-ten (57%) say they would not be upset if they had a child come out as gay or lesbian, according to a Pew Research Center survey conducted in May.

The change in attitudes toward having a gay child reflects broader shifts in views of homosexuality. More than six-in-ten Americans (63%) now say homosexuality should be accepted by society, compared with 46% in July 1994, according to the same May poll. In 1994, 49% of the public said society should discourage homosexuality.

http://www.gallup.com/poll/183332/majority-say-gays-lesbians-born-not-made.aspx

For the first time, a majority of Americans say same-sex orientation is something gays and lesbians are born with rather than something that is determined by their upbringing or environment.

Seems to me that recognition and message are doing pretty swell in spite of your disingenuous concern.

^ Except that some of the behavior is clearly deplorable. It's not going to be surprising that that can turn people away. Overall number for support have been increasing, so what. We can never know how much quicker or more effectively the Gay Pride message would have been if lewd behavior was absent.

Disingenuous concern? Yeah because you know me.

again, you are confusing behavior at other events with behavior at the Pride parade, specifically.

That is why you are being disingenuous.

Does public lewdness at every single week-long spring break destination offend you equally? ...what do you consider lewd? I get the idea that public sex and general fornication qualify, but is it only of a certain type that you would ever consider "deplorable"?

(yes, that is called a strawman; I thought it might resonate with you )

No, I've been specifically talking about Gay Pride or other events meant to promote gay rights.

To answer your question regarding lewdness, absolutely. Burning Man comes to mind. And we've been talking about sex in public so I'm not sure why I need to define it again.

Ol' Roy Moore and the guvnor of Alabama said that they weren't going to issue marriage certificates until they are told by the court that the SSM decision applies to Alabama.

Ask and you shall receive...lol! I wonder what Roy's next move will be.

Stop defending people who are looking to offend. Even better, don't get all defensive when someone gets offended by those who are out to offend. And don't even try to claim that they aren't trying to offend. Why on Earth would anyone want to have sex in the street except to have others watch. Plenty of other places to conduct your encounter, even when having people watch is what you are into. Places where onlookers who are willing participants instead of unwilling.

Still looking to be offended. What a miserable way to live a life...

I don't get what it has to do with marriage though.

Its like going to Big Market in Newcastle on a Friday night and being offended by the antics going on and linking it to marriage.

Young single people being debauched is as far away from marriage as you can get really.
That's a good point.

Good straight analogies would be spring break at the beach and large motorcycle rallies like Sturgess. People like to act bad 'cause it's fun (and usually because they are drunk), and some of those people are inconsiderate of others.

Suck me dry. (And yes, I'll make sure no one can see.)

Comparing yourself to a rape victim, and telling people to perform fellatio on you.

You're either a troll or a joke. Pick one.

With all due respect, since we're all human beings but who are the people that run the media, brainwashing the masses into believing the homosexual agenda?

The gay jews. It reminds me of the conspiracy theory Aaron Russo had about womens lib. The secret agenda behind womens lib was to get a larger tax base=$. And, to destabilize the family unit forcing people to look to the state for guidance. Not family.

say you pay $2k to go to Burning Man, and you end up being offended.

Are you going to be upset that you paid $2k to get in, that you were offended, or a little bit of both?

Or, does everyone laugh at you for spending all that money and not knowing wtf you were getting into?

As others have said, the good thing is that you are being offended. You'd be living in an Orwellian hellhole if you weren't. Count your blessings.

Okay, I admit it. I was actually taking you at face value until the "gay jews" remark. Now I'm not buying your act.

How many pride or other gay events have you been to?

I have never been to one. Just seen the crap on the news and I followed a link I never should have in here a while back that had pictures of the Folsom Street Gay Group Grope. Which was absolutely disgusting.

I am not gay why would I even want to go?

Listen up, Einstein, many things don't affect me "in no way' -- ISIS beheading Christians "affect me in on way", kids getting molested in alleys "affect me in no way"...

...what kind of moral moron bases his moral or intellectual barometer on what affects him personally or financially?

This is why I think gay activists are short-sighted, pea brains.

I wasn't aware that ISIS beheadings and child molestation were a matter of consent between 2 grown adults. How exactly are they comparable again? ISIS beheading Christians means ISIS wants to kill Christians in general, this is something to worry about. People molesting children mean that children in general are in danger, this is something to worry about. Gays marrying each other means... you don't like it? And your modern Christian dogma objects, even though your Bible barely touches on it, and Jesus doesn't say a word about it? I don't see the parallel.

Seems like you'd be far far far more concerned about banning divorce. Why do conservatives in general rely on the most logically flawed arguments imaginable to support their social views?
