One voice of reason from the entire day. I guess there is still hope.
It certainly wasn't yours.

Don't judge what you know nothing about.
I don't respect the rights of any individual over another if there is any way possible to preserve the rights of both.
Same sex marriage is the law and has been declared a legal right. I respect that right would fight to protect that right just the same as her right to religious freedom.
Why do you assume the clowns from Liberty Counsel had to brainwash her? I mean, it doesn't take a highly sophisticated genius to run for and win the office, and perform the duties, of county clerk, but on the other hand, it is fairly strong evidence that she's not a poorly-educated, semi-literate hick from somewhere out in the back of beyond for heaven's sake...I hope she recorded whatever conversation she had with her lawyers. The whole saga looks very much like a product of ideologically motivated group of lawyers who brainwashed and encouraged a person who is not very sophisticated.
It's not her place, as a Christian, to force you or anyone else, accept her faith or live by her values.
You don't understand Christianity at all, do you?

If any of us were perfect and could live a life without sin, we wouldn't need the gift of salvation that comes from Jesus Christ. I'm sure she did some awful things before she was saved, most of us did. Having recently accepted Jesus, she should now be trying to live as close to sin free as she can, in the best way she understands it. I think that's what she's doing.
It's not her place, as a Christian, to force you or anyone else, accept her faith or live by her values. Her only obligation to others is to love them and share the good news, that they can make their own choice.
Proving that there is no limit to fundamentalist Christian extremism, the ultra-conservative Westboro Baptist church has launched a crusade against Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis despite all parties being against same-sex marriage.
While Davis is sitting in jail on contempt charges for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, members of the extremist Westboro Baptist church in Topeka are threatening to go to Kentucky to protest against Davis for being an adulteress –due to having been married four times — and for causing “F*g marriage” because of her sinfulness.
Davis, who converted to Christianity four years ago maintains that she cannot issue licenses to gay couples on religious grounds, calling it a “Heaven or Hell decision.” Despite that, members of the Topeka church have launched a Twitter jihad on Davis saying she is a “phony divorced/remarried traitor to God,” and “#NotChristian.”
Addressing Davis, who has been married four times –twice to the same man — and reportedly had twins out of wedlock, Westboro tweeted: “‘Surely as a wife treacherously departeth from her husband, so have ye dealt treacherously with me.’ -The LORD”
Looks like not all of her fellow bigots are supportive :/

If you find yourself on the same side of any issue as Westboro, you should probably seriously reconsider your position.
It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners. Mark 2:17

You realize that westboro shares her opinion on gay marriage...right?

You realize that westboro shares her opinion on gay marriage, but is just against her divorces, etc, right?

Yes, I do. The statement still stands. I don't know what this church represents but I'm pretty sure it's not Jesus. I'm always open to re-evaluating my opinion and I'm not too proud to admit I've been mistaken more than once.
What is 2+2?
That Slate article is, imnsho, just plain silly. (For that matter, I don't consider Slate one of the Web's more impressive media outlets in general.) Yes, afaic, Liberty Counsel is basically a lunatic organization. I would agree that as an organization, they're surely more interested in pursuing their political agenda than in representing Davis's individual "best interests." If it might not arguably constitute libel per se (and I don't want to have to defend myself in court against a bunch of lunatics), I might even go so far as to suggest that Davis's lawyers are also less than fully committed to representing Davis's individual best interests - except that here, I strongly suspect Davis believes her best interests lie in pursuing the very course her lawyers are pursuing on her behalf. I'm strongly inclined to think that Davis and her lawyers are one big, happy, like-minded team. Apparently, she believes she (more specifically, her "immortal soul" which as a good religious fanatic she undoubtedly values above her earthly existence) would be worse off for obeying the court's order than otherwise. Even if I privately think she's a good candidate for in-patient psychiatric care, she's a legally competent adult, and that's her right. You, Slate or I may disagree with her, but that's neither here nor there.http://www.slate.com/blogs/outward/...berty_counsel_anti_gay_group_is_bad_news.html
Slate has an article speculating on this. Part of the suspicion is that the legal brief is short on legal arguments and lengthy in political and moral/religious comments.
Are you sure it's not what Jesus intended?Yes, I do. The statement still stands. I don't know what this church represents but I'm pretty sure it's not Jesus. I'm always open to re-evaluating my opinion and I'm not too proud to admit I've been mistaken more than once.
Yeah, I also admit I'm no where near the intellectual level of some of the masterminds that grace these boards.
And if you had a premeditated plan to sin your entire life only to "repent" at the very end, your repentance at the very end is not sincere. The bible also contains numerous references of the fact that the Lord's judgment will come like a thief in the night, i.e., at an unpredictable point in time. So, it could come at a time when you do not have the opportunity for a last second (not to mention, insincere) repentance. If you accept as true that God is omnipotent and omniscient, you can probably bet that He *knows* that you are planning on sinning your whole life and repenting at the end, so He will bring judgment in a manner that will screw over that poorly thought out plan.
Anywho, that's neither here nor there. I just came in here to say, I'm a Christian and I apologize to everyone else for this lady's misguided actions. She is being a jerk. She is making all Christians look like jerks. Please don't stereotype and assume all of us are jerks like her.
