Scratch repair?

How much would it cost (white common Toyota colour) to repair?

Should I take the bumper off and paint it, or leave it in place if I decided to repair it myself?

It is a deep scratch through the paint, and on to the plastic below.

The scratch was from the automatic car wash (saw it as the car came out of the car wash) or the tire store (got my winter/summer swap today and so as the car wash), however no one claim responsibility.

PS. I only have a 2.5HP 4gallon compressor. Will I need a large storage tank or rent a larger compressor (and gang them together) for the clear coat?

I would not have noticed that this is a scratch. Just looks like some dirt has been applied. In saying that, I do not think that it is worth trouble trying to fix the scratch.

Unless you can make the whole bumper look professionally painted, seems like it wouldn't be worth it to try to paint it yourself

Me, too. It won't be perfect but it will be perfect enough that you'll be the only one to know it's there/notice it.

I believe it looks like paint transfer. Try some paint cleaner (or paint thinner if you can test it first). I would even start with bug and tar remover and see how far it goes

That will buff right out but really it looks like paint transfer as stated above.

That is not a scratch. It is a scuff mark, like from a rubber wheel. Just take some denatured alcohol on a soft rag and it will come right off.

It might actually be a scratch. My silver Honda had black plastic like that under the paint.
