I would like to know if the Dell 1900FP(Samsung) is any better than the Planar model... if so I might trade the Planar 191M I bought in....

Thanks for the info!!!

Anyone have experience with the Planar vs. Samsung? I too am very interesting in how these LCDs compare.

PL191M-BK has DVI connector and CT1904Z doesn't.
And their prices obviously
but other than those...that's all.

Are you sure?

This is copied from the Dell link.

Flexible video input supports both standard analog video and digital input (DVI) for better image quality.

Upon closer observation, I did determine that the 191 has a USB connector built into the monitor. I could not find that on the 1904.

I bought the CT1904Z (or in reality the CT 1904ADU) a month ago, but it definitely has a DVI connector.
Thats what I use for display.

The CT's have been around for awhile and I think they're closing them out. The PL's are the new models and have a much thinner frame (better looking). I'm almost certain they both have DVI jacks.

I'd much rather have the newer PL191 for a few bucks more.

I got in on this one for $665 and I love it. It did come with two dead pixels but they don't bother me at all. Great monitor, great price. I don't play games--nor would I try to competitively--with this monitor. The speakers are weak but maybe that's just in comparison to my Klipsch '-*.

Jump on it, you'll be pleased.

It is very easy to return an LCD panel to Dell for dead pixels.
However, I did so the first time. My first one had 4 dead pixels. The replacement from Dell had 6 dead pixels!
So the next time, I called Planar. Planar is much easier to deal with, I didn't have to hold for a long time and got to speak to a human right away.
The monitor I received appeared as though the box had been opened. The monitor itself looked like new, but I think when someone calls with dead pixel complaints, they will go to extra trouble to test the replacement before shipping to ensure you get one with no dead pixels.

I have one of the Planar 191M's now, and I have one of the 1900FP's on order. I got the Planar last week, and expect the 1900FP to arrive sometime late this next week. I am going to extensively test both, and then send the one I like least back to Dell.

I will post a review in the video forum once I make my decision and detail which one I kept as well as why I kept it.

If you want me to PM you a copy of my comparison, give me a PM and I will send it to you...

It is only Pixel Pitch 0.294 mm x 0.294 mm though!
And your point is?? Pixel pitch (on LCDs) is different than pixel sizes on CRT monitors. I'm using a Planar right now with a .29 pixel pitch. Before the Planar, I had a .25 mm pixel Trinitron tube 19" monitor. The Trinitron was nice, but the Planar is flat out gorgeous! Be careful with your comments ... unless you have sufficient evidence to back them up. Also, the .24 pixel pitch LCD monitors currently run about $1,400 - or, about 100% more in price than the monitors that we're discussing here.
