simmike, i spoke with photoalley today as i'm in the same position as you. i ordered a camera at photoalley on 11/21, and it says it shipped (or billing info received by ups) on 11/24 and has been charged to my credit card, but no email from msn regarding the holiday reward. the person at photoalley said that i should receive an email, but wasn't sure how msn worked and said she would email customercare about my question. i then went to the msn website and chatted online with an eshop promo rep, who said that it's up to the store to contact msn regarding the purchase, even though you used the msn passport express service to purchase the item. he says it can take up to a week to receive the email confirmation from msn, although it wasn't clear whether the 1 week period began from the date of purchase/shipment or the date the store actually emails msn and informs them about the purchase. either way, i would call/write to photoalley and ask them about it in a few days if nothing shows up. i'll let you know if i receive any update from photoalley or msn.

This may be a dumb question...but, I did not see anything about these here or on the MSN web site.

Does the MSN rebate apply to the total with shipping or before shipping charges are added?

Just bought a camcorder through Crutchfield. Crutchfield charges full retail, but they are about as safe as it gets from a mail order/online perspective.

My sister wants a camcorder as a college graduation present. I selected the Sony CCD-TRV88 scratch-and-dent model (hush those boos!) for $382, saving 15% off the regular price of $449. Getting a scratch-and-dent may be a little tacky for a gift, but Crutchfield will pay to take it back and ship me a brand new one if neither I nor my sister likes it. I also applied the $25 referral coupon. With MSN's $60 rebate, the net effective price will be $297...not bad. All she wanted was "a camcorder with small tapes and a swing-out screen", so she should be pleased with this.

Is anybody having problems using Passport at Sports Authority? I can't check out using it... Passport keeps sending me on an endless loop.

If your order is posted in the MSN website, are you guaranteed to get that amount? Or it will get reviewed again once the promotion ended? Won't it be suck if it's the latter, and for some reason your order is disqualified? I guess what I'm really asking is, is there any way to ensure that you'll get the rebate in January?
I got this email from MSN today:
"Thank you for making a $577.90 Passport Express Purchase from 800.com
on MSN. As part of the MSN Holiday Promotion, you've qualified for a
$100.00 reward!

Qualifying Transactions: $577.90
Current Reward Balance: $100.00"

Is that a guarantee I'm going to get the check? coz the next paragraph of the email said:
"All rewards are subject to Promotion Terms and Conditions
http://eshop.msn.com/softcontent/softcontent.aspx?scmId=907&scpId=1918.

If you qualify for a reward, instructions for claiming your reward
check will be sent by email in late January after the close of the
Promotion."

which to me means that it will get inspected further once the promotion ended. Anybody has any ideas??

Worried,
GGrinch

Hey simmike and aircasper,

I, too, am in the same boat as you guys. I ordered on the 20th, got a confirmation from PhotoAlley on the 24th that my camera shipped and UPS says it will arrive at my house today.

But, I still have no confirmation from MSN about my reward benefit. I, too, contacted MSN who said that I would need to contact PhotoAlley to see where the reward stands, and then contacted PhotoAlley, who said that all of these MSN reward deals got pushed back a minimum of one week.

Please keep this thread alive, and leave a message when/if you receive any type of communication from MSN.

BTW - Did you guys also use EBates?

Ok, it was time to "go to the mattresses" I cancelled my photoally nikon 995 order. Went to ritzcamera.com checked out thru passport. Called and it is in stock and will ship today.
799.99-$100 (passport)-$100(rebate)-$250(pricematch amex)-$30.99(pricematch guarrentee with ritz at Dell.com) = $319.00 no 100 gift to photoally but we got to get the deal under our belts before we can think of Accessories. BTW the Dell pricematch is right off of the list that Ritzcamera.com gives you that they will price match with.

Has someone confirmed with MSN that only items labeled MSN Holiday Reward (from the non-participating merchants) are eligible? Or are all items on eshop.com eligible? I want to get a Compaq Ipaq 3835, but alas, not available from MP Superstore or 800.com!

silverspyder, i got an email from photoalley today (wrote to them yesterday) and they said that i would need to contact msn regarding the holiday reward promotion because they can't research the order through msn. i'm going to wait a few days and see what happens, but both msn and photoalley seem to be saying i have to check with the other party. if photoalley told you that the msn deals are getting pushed back a week, then hopefully that is the reason why i haven't received any info from msn yet. btw, photoalley said i should receive the $100 gift check via email by 11/29. i'll post any updates. thanks.

I'm in the same photoalley boat. I just hope there are no glitches.

My two cents: Since the credit card is registered with passport, that means passport knows when I have used it and with which site. Photoalley may just be involved to say that the order went through and was sent out, not returned etc...

For those of you asking if purchases at www.ebgames.com would qualify, I think the answer is yes.

I was shopping for a Playstation 2 at 800.com, and when searching for it there, it takes you to Electronics Boutique, who does have the Passport check-out sign.

I did the live chat and talked to Veronica at MSN, who said that the purchase at ebgames.com would be good for the MSN rebate.

I made sure to save screenshots of her answers, too.

The final charge on your cc is the qualifying amount. So shipping would qualify.

On the msn site it said the ebgames purchases do not qualify but if you have proof I guess its you against them.

Just got my $100 email from MSN, looks like I wait til January.

I thought Amex would not pricematch when someone has its own policy?

Most companies do not have a highly publicized price match policy. If you do not tell, they probably do not know Ritz has such a policy. Now some loser will probably call Amex and ask "I thought you didn't price match companies with a policy, can I match Ritz, they have a policy. Just do your match, act dumb, and don't give unnecessary info...

I think that Passport only tracks when you use passport. From that point, it transfers your name, address and credit card information directly to the stores website. At that point, I don't think Passport keeps track of anthing else. In fact it is almost like you entered the stuff manually instead of pointing and clicking with passport.

I know of two fellows on another forum which ordered from Photoalley yesterday already receiving their MSN email confirming their holiday reward. I'm wondering whether their system wasn't setup correctly the first day this deal was offered. Need to pester Photoalley again about this tomorrow.

I sent Photoalley some e-mail telling them very nicely that if the promo isn't properly credited with MSN, I am probably going to return my purchase. Their return policy on unopened stuff is good, so I will only be out about $10 in UPS return shipping. Hopefully they will make everything right.

sigh, that doesn't sound good chanfo. simmike, please let us know what happens with your photoalley email. when i asked the person over the phone, she said that they would email customercare about it. all i got in response was an email saying that it's msn's promotion and i have to go through them. i also wrote a separate email to customercare yesterday, and got a separate email response saying the same thing--that i had to resolve it with msn because photoalley couldn't "research" the order through msn. we'll see...

my 56k dialup is killing me, i CANNOT link to any eshops from the MSN website so can i just go to www.800.com and buy items using passport express and still be eligible for the 20% off?

And is Photoalley still giving out their own GCs?

I ordered a camera from Photoalley on Nov. 21 and did not receive any info from MSN either. I talked with MSN. They asked me email the order recipt to them and they will do some research. I will update you guy once I got any response.

If they do not send me MSN reward, I will return it to Photoalley.

Thanks,
Peter
