This simple link (no potential referrals) worked for me
Or you can goto sbc.com and pick SBC, residential, internet, and see the dynamic IP packages. No special link neeeded.

Normally these "new customer" deals or "online only" deals can be gotten by anyone already paying for internet if you call them up and ask them to lower your price. They also normally require a 1 year contract. If you have say 3 months left on your existing contract, they usually just reset that to 12 months total. Just call the DSL 800 number on your bill. I've done price lowering in this way about 4 times so far, never had any issues.

OP, you might want to update your post and mention that you can also get the 3mbit package (twice the speed) for only $17.99 a few bucks more.

Too bad no discounts on the 6mbit

For existing customers, big YMMV.

I called and asked, and was told no. And claimed since it is an internet only offer, the only offer she had was $24.99 a month for Pro.

I'm only paying $21.99 a month for 6 months as it is.

anybody tried and asked for the "retention dept" when calling SBC. A bunch of us had to call that dept to get the $14.95 deal about half a year ago or so. i wonder if the same thing applies to the new price. the retention dept had no problem adjusting the price, when the normal CSR denied me twice before.

doh!!!

you can move the DSL service to your new place. but if SBC doesn't service the new place, then you'll have to pay the disconnect fee.

Too bad SBC doesn't offer DSL to my residence. I'm supposedly a number of miles from the CO (new development on edget of town). So, I'm stuck with Roadrunner, which seems lackluster after my previous Adelphia Premier with 768k up.

I called and was offered a $7 something credit back to my account instead of $12.99 renewal. Well, not a bad deal since I'm already on a $14.99 until June 06.

Yahoo DSL phone number: 1-877-722-3755

When your new location is not covered by Yahoo DSL, you don't have to pay for the disconnect. (read your contract) If you switch your local phone carrier away from SBC, you essentially fall into that category and you don't have to pay for the disconnect fee either.

I just called (5:12am PST Saturday) but after a long ARS interaction, it hung up
saying that I have to call them in normal hours while it didn't tell me what it their
normal hours. I haven't experienced any worse ARS than this yet.

I will try again but not sure since I have a conference next week.

I'm not hopping on because I'm allready on the $15 / mo plan.

For those concerned about the one year contract:
If you want out of your contract you just have to get someone's address that is too far away from the CO for DSL. I had had DSL from SBC and all I had to do to get out of my contract was move my service from my appartment to a friends house outside the DSL distance requirement and they let you out of your contract.

Signed up for one of my rental houses -- ya gotta buy the DSL modem ($50 with $50 rebate) and pay $12.95 shipping in order to get this deal --- even if you already have a DSL modem (or 2 or 3 like I do from previous deals and switches to cable and back)

You dont have to wait. I've done this about 4 times already for price drops and chaning plans, you call them up and ask to get on the new plan and they will reset your contract to 12 months and should give you the new price.

Quote from DSLreports.com forum:

"The new rates are for new customers only, this time they seem to not be budging on any re-rating attempts. If you are a new customer, lucky you. Get in while you can, the dsl retention rep I spoke with told me these rates may not last long."

over at dslreports they are saying retention reps arent budging on this one

It's time to cancel DSL and get Cable! While you're at it, sign up for Cable VOIP or Vonage and cancel your local telephone. Not all will find this setup ideal, but if enough people jump ship, they'll reconsider. When you look at the total cost of Cable versus DSL, once you factor local charges, long distance, and other costs, they're very competitive.

I think it is the other way around. If you can get service at your new place but don't you need to pay the disconnect fee but if they do not have SBC service where you're are moving to then the fee is waived.

Depends on your phone usage, I think I should switch away from cable modem and get DSL.
This is alot cheaper than the 45+ I pay monthly to comcast.
