Screen colors are off. White is more eggshell color then white.

I just bought a new Acre H233H and now that it is next to my old HPw22 I see that the colors of the HP screen are way off. I have tried to fiddle with the color settings on the set up and I can not get it to look any better then what it is now. I am not sure how long the colors have been off as I must have just been used to them.

Any ideas as to what could be the cause of the screens issue?

The trick is to adjust the color mix so that a black & white PIX (having also shades of gray) displays correctly. If the BW is achieved, then the matrixing of the three colors is correct (or at least close enough) to display correctly colorized media.

What makes you think the new one is more accurate?

The only way to know for sure is to get a colorimeter. Calibrate both to a whitepoint standard and they'll match (as close as they ever will).

I think the new one is more accurate due to the idea that the HP whites are not even close to being white. I never noticed really till I put the new one next to it. The new one colors pop out at you, while the old one the colors are washed out. I solved the issue by just buying a second H233H.

I tried to adjust the colors manually and all I managed to do was mess it up even more. the color settings on the H22 were separated by the 3 colors and I was not for the life of me able to figure out what one to move to try to get it to pass those tests.

White to eggshell can also just be a matter of adjusting brightness.
