serious question, I had my iPod Touch 1G in my pocket almost every day for 2 1/2 yeard with keys and change and other metal/sharp objects. And When I sold it recently the screen didn't have a mark on it. I turned it off and looked from every angle and it seemed brand new. I understand wanting to protect an expensive piece of hardware but is it even possible to scratch the screen? I know my BB Pearl got a big ass gash on the screen the 1st day I had it in my pocket. My Touch seemed indestructible though.

Maybe I'm just more particular about the scratches, but without a protector my iphone would be destroyed IMO.

I wouldn't call anything that is a thing plastic film a "screen protector".
More like a scratch protector.

To get into actual screen protection I would imagine that you would need to look at whole body cases to get impact protection.

Hard cases tend to leave marks after prolonged use. The advantage is that they help a little more with bumps and small drops. Even so, a true drop will damage your laptop either way.

As for scratch protection, the BSE skin does a very good job. It also adds a little extra grip to the machine. All your common scratch areas are totally covered. To scratch the machine, you REALLY need to do something weird. That being the case, nothing will help you

Overall, I'd say a hard case is worth it for an iPhone since it's a lot more prone to drops. As for a laptop, it depends on your clumsiness. I'm very happy with the BSE skin. The only difficulty was aligning the giant piece that covers the back of the LCD. Took me a while, but it turned out GREAT. If you get one and want installation tips, just buzz me over PM
Slugg, you might want to look at a silcon wrapper if you're dropping it. I had same problem. Thing is SLIPPERY. But the wrapper was like $3.50 at buy.com and sticks to my hand like glue.

Has anyone else tried an anti-glare screen protector? *edit* (I see that slugg has already weighed in, ty)

I had one on my 3G that I really liked; it cut out all the glare and also didn't smudge at all. But unfortunately I don't remember where I got the thing. I tried several alternatives before I found the one I liked.

Two of my friends have the Zagg, but I don't like how it looks; kind of a subtle wavy surface under certain light. I also remember trying the Zagg on my 3G but returning it to Best Buy the next day.

Try BoxWave's ClearTouch Anti-Glares.

I used the iFrogz anti-glare the day I got my iPhone 4 and I hated it. Felt nice and protected from scratches but there was a huge noticeable skewing of the screen. I compared this to my friends iPhone 4 with no screen protector on it. Looked VERY washed out.

I took it off the next day and went back to the ZAGG after I found it in stock. That thing was indestructible on my 3GS.

Dont know why there is so much hate for the Zagg invisishield. Yes it is sticky when you first get it installed but after about a week of use mine is almost as smooth as the PowerSupport film I had on my 3GS.

No way, have both and zagg material is definitiely more grippy and a textured surface (minor but noticeable). My friend owns a business selling these same skins on ebay. There is no way it's as smooth as powersupports crystal jackets.

Another vote for Steinheil

Whatever you do, do NOT buy the Zagg, overrated and its almost sticky. My friend has it on his 3GS and its horrible to game on.

Zagg is the worst one you can buy out of the name brands. I don't understand how people use them, but then I guess they don't game at all on their iPhone.

Took 15 days but I finally got my Steinheil. Best I've seen and I have seen quite a few of them on the iPhones

What ever you guys say but my finger glides over my Zagg shield just fine and playing games on my iphone is easy. I have never been in a situation where I couldnt play a game because my fingers were sticking to the shield.
